Thread 21 TTC #1 - The one where all our cycles went haywire but we DID NOT GIVE UP

Calling all clomid-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX) We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

mouse the MRI thing is a bit stupid. My consultant said there is no reason why they can't do it if you're pregnant but she said the technicians who do the scan don't like doing it. Very strange. Maybe it does depend what you are having scanned. Mine is my intestines and I have to drink litres of horrible tasting stuff so they can track it going through the tubes!

skipper the no spotting thing is a good sign I think! I am with your OH on this. I prefer to test so that I don't get my hopes too high while I'm waiting. Although I don't usually get much chance with an 8 day LP! I don't think it's a negative mind set, just self preservation.

FXskip 3 Dec for me please!

MrsG280516 · 22/11/2016 12:45

I ovulated early Skip so I'm due 3rd Dec too. I do feel impatient this month though and might test early with my ICs!

Londonjam · 22/11/2016 12:50

skipper well yes there is that! I think it was just that there is a reason why not all women get knocked up instantly and its just nature, not anything we are doing wrong or that anything is wrong with us. No less frustrating, and no less fair that it happens to others more quickly, I agree.

nicky great news its all normal. I think the details of it have to be given by a doctor. Why not request a telephone appointment with whoever can do it most quickly? That's what I did, and spoke to someone the next day

Nicky883 · 22/11/2016 12:54

London she said i can go with an id and they can print it off for me . I just want to see excactly what they tested and take it to create on friday . i stupidly thought that you have to see the same doctor ? I can just talk to anyone else ? What was the next step for you ?
I must admit i dont really like this system no personal relationship woth doctor at all ;p

sk1pper · 22/11/2016 13:39

Nicky - OH and I are going. Ack next Friday to get all our results from the Doctor face to face. It's not the same Doctor that put us in for the tests, our available dates didn't match hers so the receptionist said to just see a different Doctor. I'm like you, I want stats and explainations. I'm going to get the Doctor to print everything off (ask is my right). Not sure what happens next but that will be my question to the Doctor too.

Nicky883 · 22/11/2016 13:45

Skipper lets hope you dont need to !!
I need numbers because create fertility gave me a list when i did the mot test of what hormones i need to test and what are the normal values for each i am not conviced that they checker anything other than progesterone fsh and lh to be honest. I wish i was super rich so i could go fully private . Or tbh i wish i didnt have to see the doctor about this at all !!

Musicgrrl · 22/11/2016 17:06

Nicky do you mean that the GP didn't do full tests or Create didn't? I'm considering Create in the new year when we'll have been trying for 9 months.

harrietm87 · 22/11/2016 17:17

Hi fxskip put me down for 1 December

I'm in a real broody phase...finding it hard to focus at work and just wishing the days away, which I know is such a bad attitude. I'd love to be really enjoying the last month of my 20s but I'm just feeling a bit down at the moment - tell me to snap out of it!

Sorry to be self indulgent. Hope you're all well

sk1pper · 22/11/2016 17:49

BFN - not even a squinter. FML

EJ2009 · 22/11/2016 17:49

Did you test skipper?

Thank you all for sending me kindness. Im really gutted about it but after a little cry this morning im ok. Most ok i have been after a bfn month.

Fingers crossed for all you 2ww ers

WantingBaby1 · 22/11/2016 18:02

Sorry sk2pper :( when I'd af due? Sorry if I've missed you saying, still catching up.

skip put me down for 28 Nov please. And talk me down from testing today. No idea why I'm being ridiculous and wanting to test far too early. Probably something to do with the several hundred internet cheapie tests I have. Thought id ordered 5, got 50. Hope I won't need all of them!

Fx for all those testing and anxiously awaiting af Flowers

Nicky883 · 22/11/2016 18:17

Skipper Its still early i still have hopes for you all your symptoms sounds promising !

Music i didnt get any blood tests done on create just the fertility mot which basicaly is an internal scan that measures everything the consultant gave me a list of hormones i need to check and said i could do that at the gp as it would be free rather than paying them to do it

I just went to the gp and I got my printed results and the receptionist said "i dont know if they mean anything to you but here you go " i wanted to say i wish they didnt but they do ! Well the interesting fact is that according to nhs guidelines my tsh levels are normal . But according to the values the create specialist gave me the tsh is higher than optimal for ttc! I am so glad i got them i will take them on friday to him and see what he says about it

Londonjam · 22/11/2016 18:22

nicky I would try to get both perspectives if you can. In my experience the private opinion is much more dramatic. When we got DH SA results back it said "you will need IVF with ICSI" because of the morphology result. We were both devastated. When we took it to the GP she said this is fine, and seemed baffled as why I thought we needed IVF. Yes it's on the low side, but if 4% is normal then 2% is not that much lower, plus he has a high count - so the amount of normal sperm is the same for someone who has higher morphology but a lower count, IYSWIM.

So sorry for another BFN skipper that absolutely sucks. I really hope it's too early for you and fxskip

OPKs still not positive but on their way up. Should be a positive tomorrow, and we've got a shag scheduled first thing. WTF has my life come to.

Nicky883 · 22/11/2016 18:23

I also wanted to say i found many ladies on online fortums where the nhs said their blood test was normal for TSH and were only put on thyroid medicine once they were reffered to the specialist

London, skipper and anyone else that had normal results please ask for the numbers to make sure tsh is between 1-2

Nicky883 · 22/11/2016 18:29

London that might be the case but if a pill that lowers my tsh levels is the answer to why it take so long for me to conceive i would rather know it sooner rather than later .i am desperate to find a reason as to why its not happening

geeup · 22/11/2016 18:51

I'm sorry skipper but it is still early and your other signs are so good. I just visited my friend with her newborn and told her I'd never had a bfp and she ended up saying she had a negative the day before her period was due when she got pregnant with her now baby. Just reminded me that's lots of people do get bfns before bfps. We're not out yet...

Londonjam · 22/11/2016 18:52

Yes very true Nicky I'll see if I can get my numbers from reception also

YouOweMeATenner · 22/11/2016 19:06

Stick me down for 4th Dec please fxskip. Looks like i haven't O'ed this month, or at least not yet. Cd16 and not even a hint of a second line on the opks. I've stuck to SMEP religiously and used preseed. I'll be raging if I don't even O after all that.

sk1pper · 22/11/2016 19:06

Thanks girls, was a little bummed out but you've made me feel better xx

Nicky - thank you for mentioning that. So what are the 3-5 day bloods measuring? Is it the 21 day bloods that are looking for TSH?

Nicky883 · 22/11/2016 19:18

Skipper here is a picture of what was measured on day 3 to 5
I am hopping the create fertility consultant will prescribe me something on friday

Thread 21 TTC #1 - The one where all our cycles went haywire but we DID NOT GIVE UP
sk1pper · 22/11/2016 19:49

Why aren't GPs looking for a result between 1-2? I recon even if i bring this up in my meeting next week he'll still want to refer me. Will definitely get the Doc to print everything off though. Thanks for sharing xx

Nicky883 · 22/11/2016 20:02

Skipper i believe is a relatively new thing as from what i read recent research shows that thyroid function can make it harder to concieve .It might not be the reason but since its easier to treat i believe is worth persuing
I will update you on what the consultant says on friday

Dixiechick1991 · 22/11/2016 20:14

Hello everyone
I've just spent the last hour reading through this thread & you all seem suh a lovely bunch. My stats
Age:25
TTC 1
Cycle 4
CD 5 (with the longest most annoying AF ever!)

DH is working away pretty much every day bar one or two weekend days for the next month so I think I'm already out this month before I've even began.

Quick question, I've been OPKing but found I don't get any noticeable CM, would I definitely know if I had EWCM? Sorry if TMI but I'm still fairly new to this

Catinthecorner · 22/11/2016 20:27

I was due Sunday but am waiting to be a few days over before I test (I've been late a few times in the past and it's all false hope). I feel period-y too so I'm almost despondent before I test.

Someone talk me down from testing now. I've held out this long I may as well wait for the morning.

sk1pper · 22/11/2016 20:28

Nicky - thanks that would be massively helpful!!

Dixie - welcome, how do you check your CM if you don't mind me asking. It's rare I get a lot coming from through to knickers so I tend to check the consistency with my fingers. If you don't think you get enough EWCM during your fertile window you can take EPO capsules between period and ovulation. Otherwise, drink plenty of water.
