Trying to conceive no 3, but not happening. Thought I might give this a go, has anybody had any success?

yes ... me! (although mine was more for getting my system sorted after mc, and as prep for getting pg again)

My friend also had acupuncture - and really for infertility - it worked a treat!

On the British Acupuncture Council Website you can do a search and have a look for specialities of local acupuncturist. Make sure you go to one with a specified interest in fertility issues.

Recommendation is also good too ...

My acupuncturist is wonderful - she's now treating me for hyperemesis - and I feel much less revolting after treatment!

Hi, I haven't tried it for Infertiliy but to help destress and get my body prepared following 3 mc's. I've been to 3 sessions now. I didn't really feel as though the first session did much but I felt so different after the second one it was amazing. It now feels as though up to a couple of weeks ago I was carrying around a physical weight on my shoulders and within my chest. Now it really feels as though the weight has been lifted and the future is so much more optimistic. So...I think it may help even by destressing as that doesn't help when trying to conceive.
Good Luck and I hope everything goes well. xxx

I had it for secondary infertility.

Went for 6 weeks, and had to drink disgusting, digusting Chinese herbs which tasted like manure.

Dd is now 7 months old

feedmenow · 13/02/2007 08:59

Have just started going after a m/c. My acupuncturist is a fertility & pg specilist. Didn't expect to be able to see/feel results all that soon but had dramatic differences after 1st session. Would happily recommend my therapist to anyone in the Cobham area.....?

cityangel · 13/02/2007 13:08

I've been having it weekly recently and haven't notice any difference . Am trying to stay positive as its costing a fortune. I am trying to get my cycles shorter (and get pg) so if it doesn't work this month I am planning to move on to Reflexology.

I picked one of the recommended ones and they tailor the treatment to individuals and where you are in your cycle. I haven't had to take any herbs though.

Started Acupuncture today, didn't feel any different afterwards but feel really moody now. They said I would need 10-12 sessions. Am really confused, do I try acupuncture or try and afford IUI which they said I would need. To top it all I have run out of anti-depressants. I already have 2 children, am I just being plain greedy to want a third?

I too am ttc number 3. Started relexology last couple cycles but no result yet and feel no different. may try accupuncture if no luck

Hi, I had acupuncture as I knew 3 other women who had conceived after a long time of trying and then saw acupuncturist and within a short space of time (no more than 4 months) became pregnant.
I still had to have IVF but had acupuncture throughout pregnancy and never had any morning sickness neither did the other 3 women. i had 7 pound twin boys last year. Not entirely convinced but didn't want to stop it and if tried again would Definitely have it. There was a study in Germany (see BBC website) in which acupuncture is supposed to increase your chance of conceiving (admittedly through IVF) from 25% to 50-60%. I never ever felt particularly relaxed when having the acupuncture but who knows, good luck

tinkerbellhadpiles · 04/03/2007 21:15

Me too - was told 'your only chance is IVF' we said 'sod that' and went for adoption and I had one session booked with the acupuncturist and went because I couldn't get a refund. Said I thought it was a load of tosh to acupuncturist.....

.....ovulated on day nine of my cycle, conceived that night, my daughter is 19 weeks old.

You only need a little prick to do the job

Debbsyandson · 04/03/2007 21:20

Me too we had been trying for over 2 years i had 1 course of acupuncture alongside 4 sessions of reflexology 3 weeks after i fell pg.Good luck.

Hi girls! Dh and I are also ttc our 1st and we were thinking of starting acupuncture this month. Is it also beneficial for men w/ fertility issues? Dh had a borderline sperm test result, he also has a very stressful job, works long hours, etc.
Can anyone recommend a good acupuncturist in Central London?
Thanks.

sparklybits · 04/03/2007 23:01

look forward to hearing from you

tks again

sideways · 05/03/2007 10:15

sunlover - I know a fab acupuncturist in central London. He's at the Complete Health Care Centre at Old St and his name is Huw Griffiths.

beckyjones · 05/03/2007 13:14

I haven't used accupuncture but go to reflex once a week... she is concentrating on the main areas of stress- hormones of course! But I have to say my Af was always so painful I used to have to camp out in bed for the first day - since having reflex (6 weeks) I have had no pain with the af and I am also really feeling ov pains which is a good indicator.. your tubes are apparently on the inside of your heal each side and you can really see them puffing out at important times- really recommend it for relaxation if nothing else!

SunLover · 05/03/2007 14:47

Thanks, sideways!!! I'll call him this afternoon.

tinkerbellhadpiles · 06/03/2007 21:16

Hi SunLover

It can indeed work for men but have you read the Zita West Guide to Getting Pregnant, has some other really helpful ideas on that front.

Good luck, don't let the serious business of making babies become serious!

Artoo · 07/03/2007 06:15

I have had acupuncture for over a year. My acupuncturist tells me about lots of research that shows acupuncture does help with fertility, but I'm not sure how easy it is to prove definitively. She told me that acupuncture at the right time of the cycle can double the chances of IVF succeeding. I went throughout my IVF cycle, and I am now 9 weeks pregnant after my first attempt.

If nothing else, I find the acupuncture relaxes me (I usually fall asleep during the treatment), and that helped to keep me sane through our two years of trying. And I do believe it was a contributing factor in our success.

Hugs,
Artoo.

loubers · 07/03/2007 21:32

I am trying for no3 with the help of acupuncture. Had my first session just before my AF. The first was quite painful, feeling negative about it. Supposed to of taken temperature each morning keep forgetting and remember once I have got up and had a drink. Positive vibes needed please!

tigi · 07/03/2007 21:45

me and dh had reflexology for conception. Very relaxing, and it worked - twice! DH also had a herb, which worked for us, and 3 friends.

loubers · 07/03/2007 21:50

Do you think it would be daft to change over to reflexology? It sounds just as effective.

tigi · 07/03/2007 22:04

i've not tried accupunture, so can't comment - but reflexology is just sooo relaxing, I felt like i was walking on air afterwards!

cityangel · 07/03/2007 22:43

Had accupuncture weekly for 5 weeks. Have spent lots of money on it to date. I have decided its not for me and plan to only try it again once I have more of a diagnosis from traditional medicine. Am looking to try reflexology in 2 months. It's a very personal thing and I am very pleased for those that it has helped. For me the cost currently outweighs the benefits. However acupuncture is very expensive in prime London locations.

ereitman · 23/02/2021 08:24

My husband and I have been married for about 3 years and tried all methods to conceive and then my friend recommended acupuncture at holisticacupuncture.com.au/ and it works for us. Now I am 6 months pregnant.
