hello knowledgeable ones!
Advice needed. Am keeping track of my fertile periods with the mucus method! However my egg white stage was about 12 days ago, however my basal body temp didn't go up until 2 days ago from my average 36.55 to 36.80 - not only that but yesterday my body temp was back down to 36.55 abd today was up again to 36.89. I'm so confused. I though egg white meant go at it like rabbits and that ovulation would follow a few days later. But in my case this can't be the case can it?
It's doing my head in a bit this ttc!!!!
advice and info desperately needed!

Hi Valleygirl,

This is the whole problem with using such methods to ttc - it is a poor predictor of imminent ovulation and such signs can be misleading.

Temp charting has its pitfalls. Many normal women may not have a temp rise after ovulation. Your record may remain flat. On the other hand, some women have a rise in temp in the second half of their cycle when an egg has not been shed. The biggest disadvantage is that taking your temp every day continually reminds you of your fertility problem.

The temperature record is a poor predictor of imminent ovulation and the supposed drop is more often than not irrelevant.

Many docs and gynaes take no notice of such charts anyway primarily because they are so unreliable.

I am sorry this may not be exactly what you want to read but you should be aware of the drawbacks of such methods.

valleygirl, I had this problem this month in that cm did not match my temp chart and looked like I ov'd 3 times. To be honest I would look at cm more than temps as more reliable indicator. How about trying an ovulation predictor kit and use this alongside all the symptoms. Have a look at the Fertility Friend website for more info.
