Hi everyone

As you guessed I'm TTC (baby #2) and I was looking in to doing the BBT and was just wondering compared to the ov tests how reliable they are and which one is the best one to buy. Thank you x

I just used a normal thermometer when I did BBT. This was 10 years mind you so maybe technology has moved on?

I have this one. It's reliable if you temp the same time every day and after 3 hours of solid sleep.

Temping doesn't tell you when you're going to ovulate - it only confirms that you have (since the temperature rise only happens after ovulation, when it's too late to conceive). Ovulation tests will tell you when you're trying to ovulate (so you can get shagging). So if you're really going for it, you need to use the two of them together.

Any thermometer will do, provided you stick with the same one all cycle. The actual numerical temperatures you get don't really matter (excepting when they tell you about thyroid issues since they're always very low or very high): it's the fact that they jump which matters.
