Ovulated but not pregnant - what's wrong?

I am 41 and since I was 13 I've had a perfect 28 day cycle. There's been literally only a handful of times where I've been a maximum of 24 hours late on - including of course when I was pregnant with my daughter. My husband and I are trying to conceive again and I took an ovulation test. I ovulated day 14 as usual. I should've got my period well over 48 hours ago. I tested yesterday and it said I'm not pregnant and I was utterly shocked because I have literally never in all these years been this late other than when pregnant. Never. What on earth could be wrong? Can anyone help please - I can't think about anything else!

There's absolutely nothing at all to worry about. I know you say you've never had a late period before but cycles can change at any time and become longer or shorter, usually for no reason at all.

It's probably not what you want to hear but just hold out and don't worry :)

It's also possible to get a false negative on a test.

If still no period in another day or so, test again.

In ovulation test only tells you your body is gearing up to ovulate you might not have ovulated when you thought. Only way to know you ovulated is to take your temperature every day as your temp will go up the day after ovulation.

Thanks guys. Perhaps that's it - perhaps my cycle is changing and getting longer. Maybe because I'm getting old from a fertility point of view.

So it's possible I didn't ovulate McBaby? What does that mean - menopause?

Not all women ovulate each cycle. It's completely normal to miss a month here and there. Your body might have been doing that for years without you knowing. It's nothing to worry about. I would wait another week, still no AF, take a FRER test which are the most sensitive. X
