I always got ovulation pains mid-cycle. They were similar to period pains, but more shooting than cramping iyswim. It felt a bit like severe trapped wind but lower down and usually on one side. Was always a good indication of when I was fertile.

Sounds like I'm past ovulating now from that last post- I'm pregnant so haven't ovulated for 6 months!

Hi,

I get bad period type pains from ovulation on and off till period! It starts with ovulation days and can be either bad cramps or shooting pains as someone else said. Talked with Dr but told its all normal. As can bleeding at mid month which I have also had. So try not to worry! Have hot baths, use hot bottle, take pain killers and dont panic! If you are like me it makes it worse! LOL

Is this pain a long standing problem?. If it is I would be concerned.

Many GPs aren't very good at dealing with period problems (many for instance would not recognise endometriosis if it came up and slapped them!); therefore you'd be better off seeing a gynae with regards to the pain issue.
Would suggest you keep a ain diary of your symptoms.

Bleeding mid cycle ought to be investigated as well to ascertain the cause - that is not normal.
