Why are they so hard to read!

Negative but pretty close to ovulation I would guess

Best thing to do is to do an opk every day for 1 cycle, at the same time each day. Tape them, in order, onto a sheet of paper and mark each opk with the cycle day. You will see what your pattern looks like (when you surge, if you surge more than once, what a positive looks like compared to a negative or an early positive) and it will make all following cycles much easier to understand

Just bare in mind that they can also sometimes detect HCG. I found out I was pregnant via an OPK!

Must of picked something up

Just like MissClarke, I found out I was pregnant via an opk just like that.

It's common to have another surge before af too. Though it's correct that they can pick up hcg

Yes after the positive opk on 10dpo, I tested with a hpt and a very faint bfp.

So the opk picks it up before getting a bfp? Is that right?

I think the FRER would have picked it up and it's likely just a random surge before your AF.

When I got a positive in an OPK I did a HPT immediately afterwards and it was a strong positive.
