Polycystic Ovaries but not PCOS - links and more info?

Hello everyone

I've had some fertility tests done that have indicated that I have Polycystic Ovaries, but mercifully the hormone tests and my very regular cycle suggest that I definitely don't have PCOS.

I'd like to find out more about Polycystic Ovaries but my google-fu is letting me down - I'm only finding resources about PCOS. Can anyone help with recommendations?

I guess I'm looking to find out more about possible effects on fertility, even if that's just reassurance that it's not a huge problem, and if there's anything I can do to reduce it if that will help.

You can have PCOS without polycystic ovaries, and can have polycystic ovaries without PCOS, it's really weird!! I take it you've had bloods to confirm your ovulating? If so I wouldn't worry, just go for it!! If you want to feel like you're 'doing something' one of the best things you can do for polycystic ovaries is eat a healthy diet similar to that of a diabetic & try and avoid additives/processed foods etc.

Thanks Danigrace, that's interesting - I have had bloods done and yes, ovulating, definitely not PCOS - you could even see a follicle doing the correct erupting thing on the ultrasound.

I'll look into the right sort of diet - I'm pretty good already but suspect I eat too much sugar if a diabetic style diet is best.

How long have you been trying? Has your partner been tested too? If you're ovulating fingers crossed you'll fall pg soon xx

I had polycystic ovaries, without PCOS. My periods were very regular but I did have a lot of ovulation pain every month - however this was of a massive benefit as I knew exactly when I was ovulating and fell pregnant first month of trying at each attempt (2 children).
Unfortunately, I continued to have many other gynaecological problems and had a hysterectomy a few years ago - they left my bloody ovaries though due to my age, and I still get pains - especially when a cyst bursts.
