TTC

I had my coil taken out just over a month ago after having it in for 3 years, i had a bleed (usual period for me- cramps etc) after getting it out. I've had sex nearly 2 weeks ago, today I've had spotting on and off, it is dark in colour, without cramps or pain which is unusual for me, I'm not due my period for another 12 days. My period is always on time and has never been irregular. I've never had a missed period apart from when I was pregnant with my son who is now 4. Me and my partner are trying for a baby and I'm wondering if anyone knows what this could be? I've took a test which had a faint line coming across the way instead of up and down the way. I am planning on waiting until my period is due before I take another one but just hoping for some advice.

If her period is not due for another 12 days then it is unlikely a test would show positive. Even the most sensitive are six days before your period at the earliest. If she had sex two weeks ago but her period is not due for 12 days then pregnancy is highly unlikely as a gap of 21 days between ovulation and your period is a rarity.
All that being said, she has just had her coil removed. If this was a hormonal coil then her cycle will take a while to settle. She doesn't know when she ovulated so she doesn't know when her period is due. Spotting is common when hormones are settling. I have spotted for up to four continuous days before my period. It could also be ovulation spotting. Indeed she may be pregnant and experiencing implantation bleeding. If this is the case a test should show positive in 48-72 hours.

My cycles became really irregular when I had my copper coil taken out (no hormones).
