Clomid - 3 follicles

First time posting here. Just had my 10 day scan after first cycle of clomid and I have 3 mature follicles. The nurse was very 'it's up to you what you do', but said there's risk of multiple births if we try this month. However, given my age (40) she agreed that there's a chance not all 3 follicles have viable eggs, plus overall lower age-related chance of conception. Just told DH and he's freaking out about having twins/triplets (as we already have a DS) and doesn't want to try this month. Don't know what to do! Has anyone else had multiple mature follicles and tried that month? Did you have a single or multiple pregnancy? Should we try?
I do ovulate on my own, but late in my cycle with a short luteal phase, so the clomid is to help shift things up a gear, which it clearly has!

I had the same thing last cycle and we choose to dtd anyway. Didn't result in pregnancy but we did look at the percentage chances of twins and trips and its low. We also looked into what would happen if it was a trip pregnancy etc. There are options you can look into. Good luck xxxx

Thanks boggle! Sorry it didn't work out for you. Having thought about it, I want to try too. I think given my age the chances of all 3 being viable, being fertilised, implanting etc are pretty slim. However, DH is catastrophising, so I'll look into those options you mentioned to reassure him. Fingers crossed for us both.

The risk of triplets is like 1%. Twins is higher, like 10% but as we've been trying for over 2 years and that cycle was the first time I actually even ovulated, we weren't going to miss an opportunity. I have a follicle scan on Monday, cd14 to see what is going on. Fingers crossed for some juicy follies. Xxx

I would do it. I was advised not to with 4, but i think I had 3 viable follicles with on my last (and successful) cycle. I have 1 health baby boy.

I'm interested by this thread. I ovulate late in my cycle with a short luteal phase so I've pushed for a specialist referral. I've got my next appointment at the end of this month and then hopefully it'll be a short wait until the doctor starts me on clomid. We've got a toddler and I'm 29, so multiples is definitely something I'm concerned about.

How have you all found clomid? I've read it can have some grim side effects?

Thanks Honni and congratulations on your baby boy. We're going to try this month, so I'm now obsessed with peeing on ov sticks. No positive yet though. The nurse at the clinic made it sound as if all 3 follicles are about to pop, but it's still only day 11 so I guess still a bit early.
Malbec I was worried about side effects as have a friend who says it was like having really bad pmt (mood swings etc), but I've felt fine. Actually mood wise I felt better for being on it, so maybe I have too much estrogen normally! I took it at night so that I'd sleep through any hot flushes and woke up with a headache the first two mornings, but nothing too bad. My dosage is 50mg, which I think is the lowest. Good luck with your specialist.

Other than a couple of hot sweats, I've had no clomid side effects and I'm on the highest dose. I don't think it's bad for everyone. Xxx

How are your follicles boggle?

Hi lovely ladies, scan was good. Really good lining, 2 good sized follicles, 1 on each ovary. Should ovulate in the next few days. Fingers crossed ladies! I really really hope it works! Xxx

Hi ladies, interested in this thread as been TTC for #1 for 5 cycles and awaiting to find out about this cycle. Been brown spotting/discharge for the 5th day now which is very unusual! But reckon AF turns up tomorrow as discharge is turning runny.
Anyway, I'm thinking of having an IUI and speaking with my doctor overseas, they gave me Clomid, 5-9 days to take. Them apparently I'll go for ultrasound to check on follies. It's all foreign to me! And I Hear there could be a chance of multiple births, and I don't mind that at all. I just want to speed up the process now and tell you about my ultrasound scan! I'm also worried about Clomid side effect but reading your thread, it doesn't sound that bad at all. Then I was told about the trigger shot and then actual IUI shot. I'm trying to find out whether to do Clomid and DTD or Clomid with trigger shot and IUI. I'm 40 and DH is 41. Don't want to waste our time. And trying everything, really
