Hi guys, just starting the October bus.

I'm almost 33, have a DS (2.5 years) and am now trying for DC2. I caught pregnant on cycle 1 but unfortunately had an early miscarriage and am now entering cycle 5.

My current situation is that DH has been changing his mind over the last 12 months to wanting to try for another, then not wanting to, then wanting to etc and it's been very difficult. We have now come to the compromise that we can actually try up until next August but if nothing has happened by then we stop TTC.

I'm on CD3 now, I usually ovulate around days 17/18 and have cycles of around 31/32 days.

Good luck to everyone!!! Flowers

Skipper, are you consistent with the time you temp?

Writerwannabe83 · 24/09/2016 22:52

sk1pper - I also have really regular periods, get positive OPKs on the same CD each month, have ovulation pain and have luteal phases of 14 days so I am also confused as to why pregnancy isn't occurring.

When I was younger I was pregnant and caught first cycle. With DS I caugh first cycle and when I was pregnant earlier this year I caught first cycle so I can't help but wonder why it's now just not happening.

With the pregnancy earlier this year, despite catching on the first cycle I had an early miscarriage (just over 2 weeks after my BFP) and then since that I've had 6 cycles of TTC and just nothing.

The only thing I can think of is that whether me still breast feeding DS is causing this problem as apparently B/F can decrease the progesterone levels in the body. It's very unlikely seeing as my DS only feeds twice a day and sometimes goes 48 hoyuts without any feed, but it's still the only reason I can think of as to why this time round I can't get pregnant, or why the time I did get pregnant it ended in an early miscarriage.

If I don't get pregnant on this cycle I'm going to see my GP and ask if my levels can be checked - although I'm not sure if this is something they will happily do or whether they have set criteria in terms of who they do it for?

Alibaba - I try to, 7am most days but sometimes I wake up earlier because of OH snoring and then I temp before making my hasty exit to the spare room! The worst I've been is two hours early.

Writer - I'm only guessing but I recon your issue is down to the MC earlier this year rather than your DS feeding. It's too coincidental that you haven't had a BFP since then. I would recommend seeing your GP though, you seem quite worried. Vitamin C supplements will help increase your levels, I think the recommended amount for fertility is 700mg. I was surprised that pregnacare only has a fraction of Vit C in them, just 90mg a tablet. I went out today and bought some additional 500mg tablets to bulk it up.

Writerwannabe83 · 25/09/2016 05:53

Thanks for the tip sk1pper - I think I'm just clutching at straws. My periods are ridiculously heavy so I'm pretty sure I don't have a lining problem Grin

sk1pper · 25/09/2016 07:03

My periods are heavy too...and actually my temp is the highest it's been this morning. So possibly some premature worrying, as usual!

Did you say you temp?

Writerwannabe83 · 25/09/2016 07:17

No, it's not practical for me as sometimes I'm up 2 times a night with my toddler so I wouldn't have a prolonged resting temperature each night for it to be accurate.

I'm 6 days post positive OPK today so possibly 5dpo - I might start symptom spotting soon....

I have a spot on my cheek this morning, I wonder if that means anything? Grin

OP posts:
sk1pper · 25/09/2016 07:59

That's fair enough, you do need it to be accurate to get any benefit from it. I'm not sure how women find temping stressful though, it's very interesting but definitely not stressful. Like my dip in temp yesterday would have been an esterogen peak, and that's true reason why I nearly burst into tears over something trivial whilst we were out shopping! Today my temp is elevated because of the progesterone and I'm feeling really happy. So strange how our lives at governed by hormones.

Any symptoms yet? I was peeing a lot yesterday but Ovia was quick to point out that the egg couldn't have implanted yet so I need to get over it...

Spots are also caused by progesterone you'll be pleased to know, particularly post ovulation ( can you tell I've learnt a lot about hormones this past weekend) ans can be an early pg sign.

NappingRabbit · 25/09/2016 08:09

I'm 4dpo and also have a spot on my cheek. clearly a sign!

MundayCakes85 · 25/09/2016 08:49

Morning all! Hello newbies, hope you've all got comfy seats for the ride. Really sorry to read the stories of loss, I can't believe how much sadness people have to go through.
10dpo here, just back from my niece's first b'day party. There was a lot of Prosecco (think the party was more for the Mum's!)
My symptoms so far include being angry (mostly at DH for being a general knob), itching (usually get down there itching around ovulation) and back ache, but that's pretty standard for me!

Mumrahhhh · 25/09/2016 09:53

I'm glad I'm not the only one obsessed with temping and reading into it! Yesterday I didn't think mine had risen enough, but ff has now calculated an ov date. Today I've tempted and had a huge spike, but I'm at my mums house and it's a much warmer house (heating on all day), would that make a difference? Ff has recalculated again based on this, but going to wait till I'm back at home tomorrow to see if I should dismiss it.

PurpleHaze1 · 25/09/2016 10:22

Hope you get another rise mumrahh

Glad you've had a rise today sk1pper. I totally agree that I find temping makes me less stressed. It reveals so much & is fascinating! I'm such a geek Hmm

Writerwannabe83 · 25/09/2016 10:56

Spots are also caused by progesterone you'll be pleased to know, particularly post ovulation ( can you tell I've learnt a lot about hormones this past weekend) ans can be an early pg sign.

When I fell pregnant in February the thing that led me to take a test was because I looked at my face in the mirror at 9dpo and I had two spots, which I NEVER get!!

This time next week I will know if I'm pregnant or not - how exciting!!

sk1pper · 25/09/2016 11:25

Is this catching? I have a chin spot too now, ugh so painful and not pronounced enough to squeeze it Grin

sk1pper · 25/09/2016 11:28

Mumrah - do you do it first thing when you wake up in the morning? Your body regulates your internal temp while you sleep so it's best to do it just after waking. As soon as you get up, walk about, drink, use the loo your body will be affected by external influences.

Mumrahhhh · 25/09/2016 13:06

Sk1pper, yes I do it from waking. My last2 mornings was 36.3 (pre ov 35.9), today I got woken about 5.30 and it was 36.5, then went back sleep for over 3 hrs and did it again and 36.7! Recorded it as 36.5 on ff, but will take it off if very different tomorrow.

The more I read the more important convinced I had a cp last month. I only tested once and it was negative, so didn't test again, but symptoms were so odd (spotting and lots of spots) that's why I started temping/tracking and temp now (36.3) is where I started my first phase. Oh well I'll never know, just have to wait and see . It's all exciting and very interesting!

sk1pper · 25/09/2016 16:29

I didn't even know chemical pregnancies were a thing, just looked up "cp" on google and voila. Seems like it's hard to even determine if it's happened or not, why is nothing easy :(

Dixiechick1991 · 25/09/2016 17:29

Hi can I join here.
Don't really know what we're doing but
I'm on cycle 2, CD 7, AF is due 17/10 (but who knows if my body is back to normal yet after coming off the pill).
We're just going with the DTD every other day ish if possible :)

sugarplumfairy2010 · 25/09/2016 18:23

Hi can i join
Age 29
Cycle 4 after mmc in june
Ovia says af due 9th but i had a positive opk on cycle day 9 so i think it should be due the 3rd.

PurpleHaze1 · 25/09/2016 19:06

Welcome dixie and sugarplum

Only CD9 here so nothing much happening. I'm aiming to do SMEP this month but I sort of aim for that every month but life usually gets in the way meaning we don't quite manage it!

Me9an · 25/09/2016 21:06

Evening!

Think I may have my first positive opk/ almost positive! I thought the line was never going to get darker but it's gone from basically nothing this morning to pretty dark this evening. It's my first time doing them so can anyone confirm for me? Grin

The October Bus - hoping for lots of BFPs and Summer babies!!
Mumrahhhh · 25/09/2016 21:14

Hi me9an, it looks positive to me, it was my first month and I was the same as you? I never thought the positive would come. I had the faintest line in the morning and full dark line later. Good luck!

NappingRabbit · 25/09/2016 21:17

Yep, I'd say that's positive. DTD! Grin

Me9an · 25/09/2016 21:18

Thanks Mumrahh ! It's so frustrating when it doesn't get darker isn't it! Good luck to you too !

Writerwannabe83 · 25/09/2016 21:30

Looks positive to me too!!

I've had 60 seconds of stabby/shooting boob pain this evening but only my left boob Grin

I think that those sensations in conjunction with my cheek spot clearly means I've been fertilised Grin

MotherofUnicorns · 25/09/2016 22:53

oh yes writer i would absolutely start thinking of names! I had a negative preg test this morning but am 4 days before af due so was being a little premature anyway.... I think i will be going again next cycle. On the plus side i have a job lot of opks to get through! Good luck everyone else x
