Did anyone else think it would be easier than this?

I'm on cycle #1 and I never expected to conceive on the first try, but I didn't think my body would be playing games so quickly either! I'm now on CD37 with £30 worth of BFNs already in the bin!! I've never had a cycle longer than 32 days and I'm ok with not being pregnant, but where is AF so I can get on with September!?

Anyone else in their first cycle and finding it hard already??

Yes me. And I have 3 kids, 12,10,8. New partner, ttc again. Only on cycle 1 but cd36. Loads of bfns. I'm fed up already. Particularly as I definitely feel pg. I didn't expect it to be this hard already. I'm sure it wasn't like this 12 years ago.

Me too - and I've had such bad tummy cramps that if I'm not pregnant something else must be wrong! Is it something about it being the first month that does this!?

Yup! A lot more difficult to read the body and all the symptoms it throws at you. I am on cycle 2 at the moment. I find that every little twinge that I would normally ignore is now a symptom or either pregnancy/ovulation/AF/etc.

I remember having a conversation with my mum about my concerns of being able to conceive and whether it will work for us but she told me not to worry; that the whole family of aunties and cousins with lots of kids. Even DH pointed out that every time,he comes to my side of the family parties, there are lots of kids so we should be fine.

Im on only cycle 2 but every cycle feels like a lifetime. The waiting and then the dreaded AF when she shows her ugly face 2 days earlier than expected. I was broken at the end of cycle 1. I think after that 1st disappointment, I should handle future AF events better.

I am on cycle 11 and TTC #1 really did not expect to still be trying....and it really becomes so hard to think about anything else.

I'm on cycle 9, TTC #1. I will cry if another person tells me they are pregnant (especially friend who has now had four children all conceived in cycle one).

YES!!! Spent so much of my 20s agonizing and hoping for AF now I wish she would pi$$ off, pardon the French :) cycle 8 and not a BFP in sight.

Yup, cycle ten and I'm starting to get bitter and jealous. My hope has faded and I wonder if it will ever happen.

Same here i never thought i would get to cycle 8 ttc1 ! Like alice i am now wondering if it will ever happen ! And the dissapoitment everytime af comes doesnt get any easier

Try TTC since 2011. I have pcos but was only diagnosed in April of this year xx

Just calm down! It'll happen when it's ready - and I know how annoying it will be to see this but it's true.

I was on cycle 24 by the time we conceived and I gave birth to our beautiful boy last week. It'll happen, but don't stress yourself out over it! And this is from someone who had a tearful tantrum most months when AF arrived.

Congratulations Fruity. I agree with you, it will happen when it happens and stressing about it probably makes it hard r to conceive anyway. I just didn't expect to obsess so quickly and my first cycle ttc turned into 37 days l of cramping hell - that's never happened before now! Good luck settling into motherhood

Orlstar I am in exactly same boat as you. 35 day cycle this month and I'm obsessing. Partner works away so will miss fertile days if this cycle length continues Angry . First baby was a surprise so didn't have any of this.

May i ask if you had started looking into why it was taking you longer to concieve ?

Not at that point but we had hit the wall where we were thinking about stopping as we're getting married next year and it was the last chance saloon due to money, timing etc.

I think I'd resigned myself at that point that it may not happen which may have helped who knows. I do know my BFP was the biggest surprise ever and that now he's here it's amazing. But I very much sympathise with those who are getting frustrated or saddened, it's horrible when you get told it's so easy so often as a teenager!

Pcos here too. Month 11 not cycle as periods few and far between. I think im going to be too old by the time this is sortedSad

I'm cycle 13 at the moment, likely heading for cycle 14 soon. I certainly thought it was much easier to get pregnant, I remember sex education lessons at school and even my dad warning me about how "easy" it is to get pregnant.

Now here I am 13 years later trying to work out when my egg is released, taking all kinds of supplements that I hadn't heard of a year ago, scrutinising my diet and lifestyle choices even though I know a few people who conceived whilst drunk out of their skulls and thinking WTF...

Also, I honestly think that they should teach about women's cycles at school. I mean this shit is important and it can be useful for prevention as well as conception - I've had to use various websites and the advice of people on here to get a good understanding of my boby. And I'm sure there is much more to learn yet.

Yep. I look back and laugh now that on cycle one I was reading into every tiny symptom and was convinced we'd conceived. Now I'm coming up to two years without a glimmer of a bfp. Instead of getting excited about poas I get excited about my next fertility appointment. And also about short cycles as it means my pcos isn't playing up for a change.

You're only cycle one. Don't panic just yet!

Do yourself a favour and stop wasting money on pregnancy tests and learn how to track your cycles instead. Much more reliable.

I agree sk1pper you spend all the time at school being told how not to get pregnant that there is little education on how TO get pregnant! It's all stuff I've had to learn as an adult which is almost ridiculous!

I also agree with another poster - stop spending money on tests and look at your cycles. I used an app called my days that I tracked periods with and you can input weight, mood, temperature everything into it and it creates a tracker that gives a good outline of fertility and when may be best in the month to conceive.

That being said I had 27 day cycles from pretty much coming off the pill and still it took ages! Just enjoy the sex and keep for fingers crossed lol. It can become far too clinical and that's never a good thing.

Yes. Got pregnant with ds on cycle 1. Now ttc again and just started cycle 4. I know yes I know that's not very long but part of me (even though I am fast approaching 40 and should have known it would be harder) believed it would happen quickly again.

Sounds like there's a few people that have conceived cycle 1 then it's taking longer which is proof its partially luck! I've just bought the ovulation strips from Amazon - bargain compared to the prices in boots etc. The witch got me yesterday! Here's to September!
