Advice on clear blue digital, testing day before af due

This is our first month trying for number 2. I am currently on day 29 due af tomorrow. I am always pretty regular and generally spot on days 28 and 29. I have had all the symptoms I got last time round, light headed and feeling like need to urinate and haven't spotted at all however I did a clear blue digital test at 6.30pm today and it came back negative, as it is before af due should I of used first urine of day or is it pretty clear I'm not pregnant...I would of assumed the day before af due the hcg would be high enough to detect whenever you tested?!

I would have said because you are due af tomorrow, it should be fairly accurate the day before but hope I am wrong.

Clear blue digital are not very sensitive. A lot of people don't get a positive until well after the day their period was due. I've never had a positive clear blue and was pregnant both times.
If you want to test get a first response.

Iggi999 · 21/08/2016 19:17

I found first response would show up several days early, the clear blue digi ones took longer so I only used them once af was late. Add in that it wasn't fmu and you could still be in with a shot. Get some cheaper tests though if you're going to do multiple testing!

How dark was the wee? if your really well hydrated then you could easily be getting a negative still. Was it a digital one? I got a negative with one of those the day before AF due with FMU with my 1st pregnancy.

Mummyshortlegz · 21/08/2016 19:19

Urine was probably too dilute unless you hasn't been for 6 hours (iirc something like that) so not a definite negative but not a reliable one. First morning urine on Tuesday will give you a good idea.

Deb85 · 21/08/2016 19:22

Thanks all, I thought clear blue was the earliest one at detecting pregnancy

Only with first morning urine

Zippidydoodah · 21/08/2016 19:25

First response s earlier than clear blue. I just used a super drug early test that showed positive about 3-4 days before af due!! Good luck!

YouMakeMyDreams · 21/08/2016 19:25

First response are far better at early detection. The first response adverts just want you to relieve they are because they are eye wateringly expensive and they want you to keep trying.
Pound shop cheapys are often far more sensitive than clear blue.

YouMakeMyDreams · 21/08/2016 19:26

*the clear blue adverts want you to believe they are better.

GinIsIn · 21/08/2016 19:31

Clear blue is rubbish - it took me until 6 days late for it to come up with 'pregnant'! Try FRER or superdrug early response.

Deb85 · 21/08/2016 20:21

Thanks, am hoping af doesn't show and can test again in a few days.

I've had 5 positive tests yet 2 not pregnant digitals. As others have said I was well hydrated the day I took them. Still scared me though!

HungryHorace · 22/08/2016 05:46

The digis detect about 25 miu. FRER, ICs and Superdrug early tests are about 10 miu. Digis should only be used once you've had a BFP on a different test, and always with FMU initially, IME (unless you're testing well after AF is due).

Deb85 · 22/08/2016 07:07

Thanks HungryHorace, that's really useful. Af due today so if doesn't show will try holding off till Wednesday. Will update!
