Doctors tests v Home tests

Hi everyone, I found out by home test on Wednesday morning that I was pregnant. I took a first response and clear blue digital in the evening for confirmation and they were also both positive.

I got a doctors appointment yesterday but their tests couldn't pick up a positive?! I have been given another appointment to come back for retesting on the 30th and on looking at my tests she said to continue taking pregnacare and treat it as positive.

On the way back to work I stopped and picked up another clear blue digital and when I done this at lunchtime it came up with 'pregnant 1-2 weeks'

I don't know whether to be worried about the doctors now especially as I suffered a miscarriage 6 weeks ago

Any help to just put my mind at ease would be good. Thanks x

As far as I know, the clear blue tests are v strong and doctors often use cheapy tests that may not actually pick up the hormones as easily, particularly if it is early to do the test. If clear blue says 1-2 weeks then it is probably just picking it up earlier than some tests might.

It is very unlikely to get a false positive,almost impossible I think to get 3 - is much more likely to get false negative, particularly when it is so early in the pregnancy.

Yeah the tests in hospitals needs more hormone levels than say a first time response. When I took a test in Feb the first one was from the hospital and was a real squinter, very very faint however I went in town and got a first response and came up right away then 1-2 weeks on a CB that evening.

Most doctors surgeries don't test to confirm pregnancy since home pregnancy tests are so good, and certainly better than anything in the nhs budget. I bet the gp is kicking themselves for testing you as now it's created worry and an extra appointment!

I guess I need to just relax and enjoy the next few weeks as worry free as possible

Lapin387 I had my home tests with me but she said she couldn't accept anything other than a positive from a test she takes so I'm not sure.

I just hope the next one picks up fine, fingers crossed!

She couldn't accept anything other than her test? That's a really strange practice. I haven't seen a GP my entire pregnancy, it's all midwife led here and you only see the GP if you need a prescription written, even then the midwife usually requests it and you just pick it up. It's strange how one area needs a GP to confirm and in others you don't see them at all.

Don't you be worrying, your positive tests are more than enough to confirm :) I've never had a test done by anyone else, the midwives just took my word for it and the first time we had it confirmed as such was at the scan.

I just took another test and it's getting darker so I guess I will settle myself... I have attached a picture.

But yes I say the first repose and clear blue on her table and she said she had no doubt I am but she needs her own confirmation before she can refer me. I feel a bit unsettled because I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago and although I understand she said she would refer me for an early scan but she cannot do this until she has her own positive test.

I guess it just unsettled me but hopefully all will be good when I go back on Tuesday week!

Definite positive, awkt that's rotten :( hopefully you'll get a positive at the GP soon :)
