Can you really get phantom symptoms without being pregnant?

Hi all, have been lurking & reading threads for past week.

Can you honestly get heavy nausea & dizziness which seems totally genuine, but it be wishful thinking rather than pregnancy?

This is first month of TTC for 2nd baby. I came off pill in early July & had a period straight away. Have always had a regular 28 day cycle prior having DS. Had EW mucus on day 13, then positive OPK on day 14, so DTD on both days.

On day 24 I had a dizzy spell & cramping that I wondered could be implantation. Then nausea & dizzy for a spell every day up til now (day 29, period due today). Did internet cheapy test every day but all negative. Did 2 superdrug early tests, seems to be a v faint line on one but really wouldn't stake much on it.

My question is - could the nausea really be caused by wishful thinking - and if so, how does the body do that? I find it hard to accept, but I don't have a positive test to say otherwise!

Thanks in advance for thoughts

A faint line is still a line!

Do you want to post a pic?

Dustpan · 16/08/2016 22:03

Thanks alibaba! Picture attached of this morning test. I should stress the line was barely visible this morning & has got darker after several hours. What do you think?

It looks like a line to me.

And you are having pg symptoms.

When did you do the other superdrug early test? Was that negative?

user1468173727 · 16/08/2016 22:20

Looks like a line to me

Dustpan · 16/08/2016 22:34

Thanks guys. I did the other superdrug test yesterday afternoon & the test now looks like it has a line, but didn't after the 3min timeframe on the box.

Why would the Internet cheapie tests all come up completely negative though?

The ICs may not be very sensitive to hcg. That is not a faint line at all.

Dustpan · 16/08/2016 22:47

Really?!? But the line only got that dark after several hours - I thought that didn't count??

The ICs are all 10miu strength which is the same as superdrug ones ...

So helpful to have thoughts, thank you

Going to try to go to sleep.

Will pee on an IC in morning and post if there is any line. Night all

Personally I'd use a first response. Good luck but definitely a line to me

McBaby · 17/08/2016 06:44

ICs are defiantly not at sensitive as they suggest. Some tests will develop lines of you read then after a few hours. Test with a first response and read it within a few minutes.

Dustpan · 17/08/2016 07:45

Morning. Tested with an IC this morn - no line. Pic attached.

Have saved urine & will try to get DH to bring me home a First Response to dip into it. Is that ok or does it have to be fresh urine?!

Thanks for all suggestions

I'm not sure Dustpan. Do the FRER ones have to be FMU? What did you use on the Superdrug ones?

I have heard of people getting negative on the ICs and positive on the FRER.

Beautifulstorm · 17/08/2016 15:20

That cheapie has a line too doesn't it?! I can see it clear as day

Dustpan · 17/08/2016 16:18

Yes but that's the control line on the IC! Smile

Ok I saved a mini bonne mammon jam jar of my fmu (lovely!) and DH is bringing FR test home tonight. Will post a pic then.

Anyone know if it's OK to test on fmu that's been in a jam jar for about 8hrs? (Serious question!!)

Ps forgot to say - nausea seems to have vanished other than a mild quesy feeling at lunch, but nothing like the last few days.

Also got back ache and period cramps today, thought I may see AF when went to loo but so far nothing.

Will update after doing the FR.
