Am 30. On mini pill Cerazette & don't have periods. How long did it take after coming off this for ovulation to restart - anyone with experience?

I'm sort of place marking as I can't help, but I came off cerazette in February this year and I've only had two periods in that time. My cycle is all over the place! Having said that, I am not actively ttc until I have some regularity. Hopefully someone will be able to share their experience!

Welshy11 · 12/08/2016 17:35

I came off in June time last year and my periods returned to a regular cycle between 28-32 days pretty much after a couple of months. How ever I found they were longer than before and a bit more painful x

Boozena · 12/08/2016 17:38

I came of cerazette in may/june with a view of seeing how my cycles are looking in preparation to ttc.
Happily I settled straight away and my cycles have been bang on 28 days and predictable since. I can't really remember what they were like before to be fair but I've been fine.
My hormones are much more stable now too.

Took about 5 weeks for me to have my first period and since I've been every 30 days to the day (I was never regular before, so I'm very pleased about this!) and I'm getting ovulations pains so presumably I'm ovulating...

kathrynelizabeth3005 · 12/08/2016 22:35

I came stopped taking Cerezette the 23rd of June, ovulated on the 23rd of July and conceived. Didn't even have a period in the interim!

kathrynelizabeth3005 · 12/08/2016 22:35

*came off/stopped. Got in a muddle with my phrasing there! Baby brain already!

MadameLeBean · 13/08/2016 07:07

Thanks all. Kathryn how do you know your exact date of ovulation?

I too know I am ovulating. I could feel it as a dull pain in one side and confirmed with ovulation sticks (amazon cheapies). I've tested a couple of times and got positives at the correct times, then period exactly 14 days later.

Fluffsnuts · 13/08/2016 15:44

I ovulated 2 weeks after coming off. Period 28 days after. Was pregnant before the next period came.

overthemolehill · 13/08/2016 15:59

I was 38 when I came off cerazette to ttc. I had my first bleed 3 weeks after I stopped the pill and conceived 2 weeks later!!! I've read lots of varying scenarios for other people so I think myself lucky Smile

kathrynelizabeth3005 · 13/08/2016 18:52

MadameLeBean I have always been able to feel when I ovulate. Ever since I starte my periods I would get pains depending on which side the egg got released. Was also tracking my body temp so I'm pretty certain it was the 23rd of July :)

pinksparkles88 · 14/08/2016 13:27

I stopped taking Cerazette when I got back from my honeymoon just over 2 weeks ago. Waiting for period to return but have felt really unwell in the evenings since I stopped, has anyone else experienced this?
We are waiting a few months to start trying but I've been on Cerazette with no periods for over 3 years so am worried they will take ages to return!

jaffacakes16 · 14/08/2016 21:44

I had first bleed 1/2 weeks after stopping, I then went fairly regular 30-35 day cycles. Got pregnant 3rd cycle with temping/opks unfortunately had early mc. I'd say if time isn't on your side do try to work out when you ovulate - you can buy cheap strips/fancy test gadgets and measure your basal temp first thing in the morning. This will allow you to pinpoint ovulation, bit of a faff but it is good to see if you're ovulating and when.

I have been on the pill for 17 years. Originally microgynon for 3 but taken off due to breast cancer risk and migraines. I've been on cerazette for 14 years with no side effects, also no periods - seems like the perfect pill! I came off the pill over a month ago just to see how my body would react and I'm 32 so if wanted to conceive I didn't want to make a decision later on and then have to wait for body to return to normal as well. Since stopping cerazette about 5 weeks ago I've been lethargic, my skin is crap (teenage spots constantly!), I'm a moody, grumpy cow, have constant period pains, sore boobs and NO period, not even a bit! I've started running 15k a week and eating less but am putting on weight! (I am deffo not pregnant) Any ideas on how long it's taken people to get back to normal - has anyone been on this as long as me who could give any comment on their experience. I know everyone is different but would set my mind at rest a bit I think!

dangle90 · 06/10/2016 19:40

Sorry can't help but will also be coming off cerazette in Dec so looking to see how everyone else has got on with it :)

Loca6354 · 09/10/2019 19:55

I am in exactly the same boat- aged 32 stopped taking cerazette 3-4 weeks ago after taking it for approx 12-13 years, and microgynan 30 for 3 years prior to that, had to switch due to the risk with having migraines. But I still havnt had a period. My breasts were extremely sore last week and I am craving chocolate and sweets, I have done a pregnancy test and I’m not pregnant. We are TTC. When would people recommend to start doing an ovulation test.. as all of them recommended doing it on certain days of your cycle..But I don’t know my cycle as I havnt had a period .. I’m so confused. If I had know it would have taken longer to regulate again I would have stopped taking the pill earlier this year and used alternative methods until we were ready.

Thegreatwhite · 09/10/2019 21:52

I came off Cerazette in January. Since then I had 2 normal periods, 2 absolutely hellish ones and not much else. It's currently been 8 weeks since my last period (am definitely not pregnant!).

My weight's gone up, my skin is atrocious and my moods have been terrible! If we weren't planning on TTC, I would have gone back on the pill, no doubt.

I've also been for a few scans to check if I had cysts. I had one which turned out to be an ovulation cyst - not that it seems to result in a period...

I was wanting to wait until my periods were regular before we started trying but I'm getting impatient now!

nadzG1984 · 23/08/2020 15:08

Am 36 been on cerazette for 8 years, I have stopped the pill for 3 weeks now as o wanted to conceive. I was due on about a week and a half ago but all I have had is cramps and no bleeding. I thought my body would get back to normal straightway. I have no idea when I ovulate now as no period, any suggestions? 🤔😭

NI36 · 06/11/2020 20:34

How did you get on coming off it? I am 36 and have come off cerazette this week with the plan of TTC.
