Shuttles method- has anyone on here tried this and were they successful?

I'd be interested in responses to this too!

caroldecker · 01/08/2016 19:21

Tis bollocks, but about 50% of people using it are successful.

Pitapotamus · 01/08/2016 19:37

There seems to be some logic in it though... But yes, you'd need more than 50% of people using it to have been "successful" to show that it actually works!

caroldecker · 01/08/2016 21:15

There is only logic if you believe X and Y sperm are different - no evidence of this.

Deb85 · 05/08/2016 23:52

The success rate is supposedly 75% for a girl and higher for a boy....interested in hearing from anyone who has tried it...

We did sort of unintentionally - if that makes sense! And it worked and we have our little girl

AppleMagic · 06/08/2016 00:04

Those success rates look highly dubious to me.

It worked for a friend of mine and she got her daughter.

It sort of worked for me. I was fairly sure my two boys had been conceived on the day of ovulation. When we decided to go for number three, we tried the Shettles method just to see if it might influence our chances of getting a girl next time, even though we weren't really bothered what we had. We only had sex up to three days before ovulation for about five months, then when nothing happened we tried two days before, but I didn't conceive despite getting pregnant really quickly both times before.

Eventually we decided the age gap between DC2 & DC3 was more important to us than the sex of the baby, so we reverted to the tried & tested method of sex on the day of ovulation the following month. Guess what? I got pregnant and it sure enough it was another boy. No regrets at all, btw, he's wonderful.

So I guess it might work if you are prepared to be very patient and disciplined.

I'm really interested in trying the shettles method, I have two boys and I really would love to have a girl next as OH doesn't want any mor children after that .... although I can be quite persuasive 😂
I have read up on some of it but I just wondered What you girls did?

Anna2006 · 05/02/2017 19:41

I don't know anyone that's tried it so can't really comment.

But we only managed to DTD 3 and 2 days before ovulation this month as my ovulation was so delayed an we missed it! So be interesting to see if I actually get a BFP!

Oysterbabe · 05/02/2017 19:43

I'm tempted to try it as DH would love a boy for our second and final child. But I'm not getting any younger and I think just conceiving asap should be the priority.

bolognaadvice · 06/02/2017 12:46

oysterbabe - if you want a boy then shettles shouldn't slow you down... it's "trying" for a girl which can take a while as you dtd away from ovulation.

I'm a believer and have 2 boys both conceived by making love v close to ovulation. (And DP has girls with his ex so everyone was expecting more girls as "he makes girls" - pah!)

My sister did and it worked. So we did and it worked too :)
