Hi youbogglemymind

That's interesting to know, have you had any other treatments prior to clomid?

X

AmyC86 · 09/08/2016 16:51

I've also been given clomid, just waiting for AF to arrive following my second cycle. I've got my next consultants appointment on September 12th.

My periods are also practically none existing so that's nothe a valid reason xx

LittleMissSnowShine · 09/08/2016 18:45

Hi Everyone

I'm sorry to be gatecrashing your thread and I hope it's ok to join?

I'm ttc DC 3. I have two DS, who will be 6 and 3 this month. I came off the mini pill just before Christmas last year to start ttc and my cycles and everything have just been a mess since then. No periods at all in Jan / Feb / March and then when I least expected it I got pg in April, but miscarried only a couple of weeks in.

I spent 3 weeks bleeding really heavily last month month, and I ended up having to pay to go private to go to see a gynaecologist because the waiting list was 9 flipping months and my GP was really concerned. Anyway now I have been taking provera twice a day to try and regulate things for me for last three weeks. I finish tomorrow and I'm hoping to continue ttc again now but the really horrendous bleeding returned on Sunday night and is ongoing so until that stops there will be no ttc!!

Consultant is giving me an NHS appointment for a follow up so I should be back there in around October time to possibly try Clomid if I don't get pregnant in the meantime.

I've had three miscarriages along the way, but also my two DCs who were somehow conceived without assistance. I have had real problems losing any weight since DC 2 was born nearly 3 years ago so I have just started the paleo diet last Monday - I've lost 5lbs! Woo hoo! Def cutting out carbs / refined sugar / processed food seems to be more effective for me than Slimming World or Weight Watchers.

And that is all there really is to say about me! Sorry it's a bit long-winded..

Nice to meet you all! Flowers

YouBoggleMyMind · 09/08/2016 18:55

Hi littlemiss, welcome. Sounds like you're having a tough time with all that bleeding! Certainly doing the right thing by getting it sorted!

becky, clomid and metformin are the only things I've been given. Our first appointment at the fertility clinic was last September and I've done 5 rounds between now and then. A couple of holidays and changing jobs and waiting for AF have meant I've not been able to just do month after month.

AmyC86 · 09/08/2016 21:08

I was given norethisterone to force a bleed for my first clomid cycle in April.

sunshine welcome if I'm correct, you will get quite a heavy bleed following the provera xx

LittleMissSnowShine · 10/08/2016 07:57

Boggle / Amy - thanks! And hello Smile Consultant did warn me about heavy post-provera bleed but by the time I went to see her last month I'd been having really crazy heavy heavy bleeding for 3 weeks and it stopped within a day of taking the tablets so I was delighted! It's my last day of provera today, though, so I'm not looking forward to what's coming next but I have had some bleeding already the last few days already too Confused

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/08/2016 08:13

Morning ladies, today's the day. At 4pm we have our next appointment to find out what were doing next. I am nervous. Sad all I want is to have a baby. It's not much to ask!

LittleMissSnowShine · 10/08/2016 09:19

Good luck boggle!

danigrace · 10/08/2016 11:18

Morning girls. How is everyone?

Welcome Becky, nice to see you over here. You can be given something to induce a bleed before having clomid so the lack of periods isn't an option. I haven't started anything yet, wanted to give myself 6-12 months to try natural methods first (depending on my patience levels lol). Had my first period since March a fortnight ago, currently have my first stable looking temp chart ever, & have a positive opk for the first time since I came off my pill last Oct (whilst I had sporadic period between Oct & March the GP said I wasn't ovulating). My next fertility specialist appointment is 23 Aug & I'd planned to request a course or two of clomid before the lap & dye they want me to have first. But based on how things are I may ask to just come back in a couple of months as it seems what I'm doing at the moment may be making things happen... Fingers crossed.

Boggle that's great you ovulated. Fingers crossed for your bfp soon!! & ooooh good luck today, hope you have a productive appointment - I'll be thinking of you xx

Amy how've you been getting on? Will they up your clomid dose next time?

Welcome Snow so sorry to hear all you've been going through! & I'm with you re. the diet - my weight dropped off when I stopped eating all refined sugars & processed foods etc. I don't think our bodies can handle them well. Not too clued up on what paleo is? What else do you avoid?

danigrace · 10/08/2016 11:19

Becky that was meant to say isn't a problem, not option. Lol Grin

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/08/2016 11:27

I only ovulated on the last cycle of clomid dani, not naturally. No positive opks at all in the last 2 weeks so unless I've missed it, I've not ovulated on my own with just metformin. It's why I want to give clomid another go as it worked and made me ovulated when I last used it. I just hope they listen to my sense!

OP posts:
danigrace · 10/08/2016 11:43

Boggle sorry I misread and thought you'd just finished your positive ov clomid cycle. Your reasoning certainly makes sense so I hope you get what you're hoping for. Xx
What time of day do you do your opks? Do you do just the one a day?

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/08/2016 11:47

No it was me dani, I read back and it defo sounded like I'd ovulated on my own. Sadly my ovaries aren't getting the idea!

I just started from cd10 and continued from then on. No smilies Sad just once a day. Clear blue digital opks are bloody expensive xxx

OP posts:
danigrace · 10/08/2016 11:59

Boggle have you tried the internet cheapie opks? Maybe you could use them then just use your digi on top if you had a potentially positive line that you were unsure of. I use the cheapies just after lunch (as fmu is no good for ov apparently) and got a bit of a line day before yday but not +ve, then did another one the same evening (after reading inline some women only picked up their surge later in the day & after holding their bladder for 4 hours) and it was +ve. Next day there is a line but def lighter, not positive. So if I hadn't have done that one evening one I'd have missed my surge all together!

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/08/2016 12:42

I guess I could get some cheapie and use both. I'll prolly use them next cycle.

I've got another round of clomid at home but I'm going to wait until after my appointment now, as I want it to be increased and possibly metformin to be added as a temporary thing.

First day back at work today, and in the rush this morning I forgot to take my bleeding vitamins Angry

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/08/2016 17:53

Got 3 more rounds of clomid. Told the consultant I didn't want the operation and he's was fine with that. Injectables will be the next step and then IVF once we qualify next year.

I also lost a lb at weight watchers. amy, how are you getting on?

OP posts:
AmyC86 · 10/08/2016 18:02

I'm Uber confused boggle cd36 and ive just come on, so Cd1 meaning a 35 day cycle. CD21 bloods came back with a low progesterone score. I'm not sure how I've ended up having a really regular style cycle when they said that..... unless I am ovulating later & the blood test isn't catching it.

Like I said above, I wasn't going to take any further clomid until my next consultation...... what do you think?

AmyC86 · 10/08/2016 18:04

boggle did your consultant say anything about BMI and injectables?

Are you happy that you've been given 3 more cycles? My fingers and toes are all crossed for you DTD like you've never DTD before!!!

YouBoggleMyMind · 10/08/2016 19:10

Looks like you may have ovulated on the day you had your blood test in which case, your progesterone test should have been on cd28?

I think you should do another round of clomid.

Happy with clomid, I wanted to do more rounds after ovulating last time so fingers crossed it all goes to plan and we don't get to injectables. No mention of bmi. My bmi is 27. Xxx

dani - yes paleo is basically no refined sugar, no processed food, no grains, high protein, fairly low carb (though sweet potatoes, butternut squash etc are ok). Not a lot of dairy either. Though eggs, apparently, are fine. But I don't really like eggs. So breakfast is tricky!! Weight loss is good, glad you also got good results!

amy - i doubt this is helpful but when I was ttc DS2 I used OPKs and charting etc and I could never seem to catch a regular pattern / pinpoint ovulation / figure out what the hell was going on!!! So I basically just followed the Zita West "How to get Pregnant" book while I was waiting to go to fertility clinic, cut out foods she suggested avoiding, and had as much sex as humanly possible spread out throughout the month so I wouldn't miss ovulation if / when it happened and eventually it worked. It was frustrating though, it would be nice to know exactly what was happening and when but the OPKs never seemed to really do it for me! And blood tests also. I was told definitively based on blood tests that I wasn't ovulating. But I have been pregnant 5 times, so clearly that was not the case. PCOS is so individual in the way it messes with everyone's cycle in new and different ways. But I hope that regardless of what OPKs and blood tests are saying that you are ovulating and having a semi normal 35 day cycle seems to be a really good sign!

boggle - good luck with the clomid!! that will probably be next step for me too. If. I. Ever. Stop. Bleeding!!!

danigrace · 10/08/2016 21:21

Amy how was your day? I hope work wasn't too stressful. How long to wait until your next appointment? If your progesterone was taken CD21 that could have been exactly when you ovulated on a 35 day cycle so it wouldn't have had chance to build up in your blood yet... Based on that maybe have your other round like Boggle said.

Boggle sounds like your appointment went well, that's great! And well done with the weight loss!

Snow ahhh thanks for explaining that, that's really interesting. I'm not too far off paleo without realising it then. I've just been clean eating. I don't have most of what you just said, apart from I do occasionally have brown rice and I have a scoop of additive-free whey powder in my shake each morning. I try & make sure I get 70g of protein a day too (supposed to be optimum for ttc & preg women). It's funny, I eat much more now than when I was trying to lose weight but somehow still putting it on and after the weight dropped off starting this it's stayed steady. You totally need to make friends with eggs though Grin I don't really like them myself much when runny, & am not a fan of supermarket eggs, but I started getting some local ones off the milkman (DH still has milk) which I like - & a salmon & spinach omelette for breakfast is mmmmm....

Well I'm on CD 14, & my temping is still okay (no rocky mountains like has always been in the past) - I wonder if I'll get the magical temp increase to say I ovulated... I had all the right cervical mucous but apparently you can have that and not actually ov

AmyC86 · 10/08/2016 21:56

boggle that's where I worked out possible ovulation to be too, and I'm really fecked off about the blood test thing, I think that we should have regular, weekly blood tests, at least then we'd have half an idea.

snow i tired temping & opks and they where a flaming nightmare!

dani work was cool x not to much stress next appointment is in a months time...

LittleMissSnowShine · 10/08/2016 22:17

dani - I had some scrambled egg horror with salmon, broccoli and squash for breakfast this morning. Yeuch! But I agree that I'm definitely eating more, I'm not hungry, energy levels are good and weight is coming off! 3kg down in 10 days - but I'm aiming to lose around 20kg so still a good way to go... I miss chocolate!!

Since I finished the provera today I guess I am now officially ttc again, when bleeding slows up anyway. So I guess tomorrow will be CD1 - i've been ttc for 8 months now but this will be my first time being able to actually track a cycle. Wish me luck!

danigrace · 10/08/2016 22:36

Amy if next appt is in a month I'd deffo go for the clomid you already have then - fingers crossed it's helping! Glad work was good Smile

Snow it took me over a month to stop missing chocolate, maybe even a bit longer. Which is way longer than it took for me to stop missing everything else, except maybe wine lol. But stay with it - it happens eventually (& you've got through the hardest bit of withdrawal and feeling like you might kill people)!! As an added side effect your energy levels will be great and your skin will glow & hair shine! I'd never have done it if my body hadn't 'forced' me, but i feel that good for it now that I wouldn't go back even if I conceived or had no health issues etc.
