TTC and feeling lost!

Hi all.

Any help and advice would be very welcome. After lots of discussion my husband and I have decided to try for our first child. I have stopped taking lucette recently which I have been on for 10 years and am waiting for First AF to see how long my cycle is.

I just feel a little lost with cycle days and ovulation days and knowing If and when i should do ovulation tests etc etc!

I thought it was simple .... ;)

Anyone who could talk me through what they are doing would be fab. Thanks xx

If you want to keep things simple for now, just DTD every other day from the end of your period until your next one, if you can keep the pace!

I think the 'relaxed' method is good to start. When DH and I decided to TTC our first ( 7 months ago) we thought it would be very easy, I was already off the pill so we just started dtd more. This will hopefully work for you!
After a while I then downloaded some apps to help me track my cycle etc. So if this is something that you don't already do and would like to start I would recommend the app Ovia.

Thank you both ! It's good to know that there are people to talk to - especially in a few months or years depending how long this takes! I've downloaded that app and it looks good so thanks for that! X

Just be careful with apps as they base future cycle length on the length of this first cycle off the pill when they are likely to be shorter after cycle 1. I did that and as a result assumed I would ovulate just as late in cycle 2. I ended up missing ovulation in cycle 2! I did cheapie OPKs from day 11 in cycle three which led to BFP! As much dtd as possible though as your cycles may take time to settle!! Good luck ☺️

I'm on cycle 2 now after coming off Femodene in May! My 1st cycle was a very long 42 days!! Using Ovia to keep track of where I'm up to. If you put as much info as possible in daily then it will adjust your cycle length based on the info you give it. I haven't started using OPKs or temping or anything as yet, thought I'd give myself a couple of months off pill for cycle to regulate a bit so just trying to DTD more. Think I will start looking at OPKs next cycle if I don't catch this one!

Thanks both! That's great. Yes I'll use the app for now just to tracks cycle lengths but will start using the ovulation chart after a few cycles I think! Where can you get the ovulation testers from? I think again I'll use them after a few cycles too. I'm on CD11 at the moment but getting lots of cramps as if AF is due. Is this normal when coming off the pill? I was on the pill for 10 years so not sure how normal things are!! Thanks xx

It could be ovulation pains potentially? If you have a 28 day cycle you'd usually ovulate around about day 14ish. You can get ovulation tests from boots, superdru and most supermarkets sell them too with the pregnancy tests. You can order off amazon too though which seems the cheapest way to do it! Think I'm gonna order some off there when I start to use them.
