Hi Russ!! I too have just started cycle 5! Sounds like you've been putting yourself under a lot of pressure. Remember, it takes many couples up to 2 years to conceive naturally... so don't lose heart just yet...

I am taking the opposite approach and am 'giving up' trying as it hasn't worked so far. Just going to see what I see until December.

This morning I took 7 different tablets. I literally rattle!!

Russkispy · 24/08/2016 16:07

Hi Physics, I'm so relaxed about this it's unreal! I stopped checking symptoms, don't look at the apps and not even discussing TTC with DH. We're very much following this SMEP plan though. It works for us, there's no moaning or struggling with it. Also my acupuncturist said to TTC every other day from CD4-5 (depending on your period length) till CD21. For us it's usually till CD20
Yesterday I had a smear test and the nurse said it normally takes a year to conceive regardless of the age. Well, I don't have a year. I'm already 40!
Again, time will tell this cycle and we'll take it from there
Please remind your age?

physicskate · 24/08/2016 16:32

Oh I see the urgency now!!

I'm 32... will be 33 sooner than I'd like... Why oh why does it feel like I've frittered away my best years!

Russkispy · 24/08/2016 16:46

Physics, don't say that! Otherwise you'll keep living in regret which is not a healthy thing! There are younger ladies than you who struggle to conceive!
My acupuncturist told me at our fire meeting that woman's body is not programmed to have babies, yes, we've got reproductive organs but it's a journey to achieve one's pregnancy! And if it was that easy than every single woman on this earth would have been pregnant if not using pills etc it all makes sense that we have to work hard to achieve our BFP. And with our age this process decline, can't ignore it but not giving up! As simple as that!

Footy1 · 24/08/2016 18:53

Busta I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. They couldn't find anything wrong with me before and I conceived. Had all tests again and still nothing wrong so it's just a waiting and timing game unfortunately.

Tee, glad you dtd! Well done mr Tee too! Need to maybe do the lube in secret Tee, if he doesn't want it. He'll hardly notice and won't have this problem again. First part of cycle for me I get a bit dry which can cause these tears. Your chart looks good.

Russ, hi there - glad you are ok and have plan arranged. That sounds like a good deal. I know people who paid £2000 +! Good luck with it all.

Jem, hope you had a good day. I miss the olympics, inspires me to get my back sorted and get some exercise!

Hope everyone else is well. Physics/ I like your approach and I bet it will happen to u very soon. X

Footy1 · 24/08/2016 18:57

Im really in a tizz with my cycle. Temp dropped again today to just below coverline so I'm not convinced I did ovulate at all. It's not gone up like it should do and seems to be declining and I'm only 7dpo. It's been so up and down. Going to take the norethisterone to bring AF in 5 days, otherwise this could go on for ages. I'd be due AF around then anyway. Worst case if I was pregnant AF won't arrive.

LondonJem · 24/08/2016 19:02

Hello russ, good to see you although sorry you haven't had your bfp yet. IUI plans for next cycle are exciting! How are you finding acupuncture?

Physics I'm nearly 33 too, it's okay we haven't left it too late Smile although completely agree it's easy to with you had started sooner. Maybe then it would have felt too soon though?

footy I miss the Olympics too, where's my diving / fencing / weight lifting / swimming ????? How is the DTD going?

So I had my first acupuncture session! Very nice man, he's been practising 12 years and has some extra qualifications in fertility and acupuncture. He asked lots of questions about my health generally and periods - bit weird talking about the detail of my periods with him but what the hell. He did 10 needles all down my back , either side of my spine. I felt so weird - like the room was moving around me and like I needed to hold onto the bench. Also a kind of pressure where the needles were. He left them in about 15 minutes. Afterwards I felt so light headed and felt like I was going to burst out laughing! HmmHmm so weird. He said its common to feel light headed afterwards and that it's a good sign.

We shall see! Off home to my grumpy husband now to see if he fancies a shag. This heat does not help.

Russkispy · 24/08/2016 19:47

Thank you ladies!
Seeing my acupuncturist tomorrow. I'm yet to see if she helps me to get pregnant but I find the sessions so relaxing! She's happy with my pulse and diet. Keeps telling me to eat lots of beef and liver during and after period to catch up with my iron levels.
Treatment prices in the UK are insane and just not fair on us! People struggle with infertility issues and yet ha love to fish out thousands! I'm a fortunate one and can afford it here but refuse to pay that kind of money knowing I can pay less and get a good care from Riga clinic plus will get to see my family. I'm still out of work since I returned from Iraq and not rushing into it in case I need to fly to Riga etc just don't want to add stress to TTC. What's more important right now? To conceive or get a job. Again I'm fortunate enough not to work at the moment so I'm investing my energy in TTC. Right?!

Busta · 24/08/2016 22:20

It is just so frustrating, you're right Jem.
That acupuncture session sounds so relaxing & so amazing. Maybe it's worth signing up for it just for that.
Hope your DH isn't grumpy tonight!

Thanks Footy - I just want them to 'fix' me & give me the magic pill that gets you pregnant... I wish it were that simple.
Footy your temp might go up tomorrow - it is still above coverline so I think you did ovulate - Your temps are not as low as pre ovulation. Keep positive!

Hi Russ - how long have you been having acupuncture? I've looked into going abroad for IVF - they say Italy is amazing - & you're right, so much cheaper than the UK!

I understand Kate I'm taking & doing so many things I have added them to my FF check box to make sure I don't forget!

Nothing new here, CD 3 & AF coming to an end. All very boring.

Russkispy · 25/08/2016 07:34

Busta, started acupuncture in May, and have 2 sessions per month, at the beginning and end of the cycle. I'm not sure how they benefit and contribute to TTC but her session relax me, always living full of beans and hope.
A clinic in Athens is highly rated for IVF, just can't remember its name, and it's cheaper than in some other clinics in Spain or Italy. There are lots of info on IVF clinics on fertilityfriends.co.uk site

jodders · 25/08/2016 09:25

Hi everyone! Been reading and catching up!
Don't lose hope ladies it WILL happen! I really can't wait to see more BFP in this thread.
Remember I mentioned reiki? And my friend who tried that....well she is upduffed! Was fourth month trying, first time of trying the reiki. I don't think reiki is expensive?

LondonJem · 25/08/2016 10:50

hi jodders how are you doing?

DH was not in the mood. Oh dear! I wasn't that bothered though. Maybe I am losing motivation? Am working from home today though so perhaps a mid afternoon break is on the cards...

physicskate · 25/08/2016 11:12

CD5 AF now long gone (I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have short AF after 6 years of copper coil and 10 day periods!!!!). I'd better get back on it! Have started Agnus Castus, iron supplements in addition to everything else!

Jem, does it feel like a chore? I am really worried about that... but actually the more we dtd last cycle the more I was enjoying it!

I know what you mean about losing hope jodders... but I re-evaluated and actually I am not feeling nearly so irrationally broody! It would be such a huge change to our lives... It helped to go over on the parenting board and see how stressed out some people are (though it is always the most stressed people likely to seek such support from an internet forum)...

jodders · 25/08/2016 11:29

I'm ok. Pregnancy isn't easy. I still have HG and I now have crippling back ache / sciatica. I likely will be on crutches soon. Pregnancy has fooked my body!
Yes Kate I get that. When you look beyond the pregnancy and the broodiness being a mum....well it is hard! It changes your life, relationships and how you live Forever. So although you are likely muttering "oh shut up" please try to enjoy the TTC process. It's a special time between a couple. I couldn't imagine life without my kids now, they are my world but I could tell you some things which would put you off lol!!!

LondonJem · 25/08/2016 15:07

kate it's not become a chore to be honest. We got a bit lazy with sex before. Now I think we both secretly look forward to fertile week. I'm enjoying the sex loads. Getting around to it can be the bit that takes some effort, but once we are in the zone, it's great.

Sorry to hear you are so poorly with it jodders that must be tough. I'm not thinking shut up at all and I try not to have rose tinted glasses on about what having children will actually be like... I think we are both just so ready to be parents now, and it's something I've always wanted. I've always been a broody mare! Sometimes I feel like I want a baby so much it's like a physical longing for it. I'm not bothered about holding other people's anymore either. It's like I want OUR baby now!

physicskate · 25/08/2016 15:57

I'm not thinking shut up either!!! This whole process has felt really lonely, I think I would have already gone mad without all of your support!!!

Russkispy · 25/08/2016 16:19

Just back from acupuncture, yet again I fell asleep during the treatment but didn't snore this time! Hahaha she pointed out no to say "your fertile window" but "getting pregnant" time. Injecting all positiveness into me! Also suggested to explore IUI at home. Has anybody tried home inemination kits?

LondonJem · 25/08/2016 18:22

No russ didn't know that was a thing to be honest.

Day 9 today and the DTD-athon has begun! Rather warm for it but needs must Wink

Russkispy · 25/08/2016 18:26

Read quite a bit about home ins emanation kits and not sure about it altogether.

The acupuncturist highly recommends to start DTD the day after your period stops and every other day till CD21.

Hope DTD-Athon goes well! Ours started a couple of days ago, taking all vitamins, cough Cyrus for CM (apparently makes it all watery) and Conceiving Plus lubricant, apparently pushes DH's sperm right up. God help us!

Russkispy · 25/08/2016 18:27

Oh and in case somebody is interested in this ....

Parney · 25/08/2016 20:16

Hi all, still rooting for everyone. When I started TTC I did a lot of reading and was intrigued that it was not unusual for it to take up to or over a year. Of course this is frustrating for those waiting on BFP and probably heard a lot. I'm sure there will be a few September announcements from you all.
Not much news with me, had my 20 week scan a while ago and all looked good, growing very well which was a relief! Baby weighed about a pound apparently. The movements are so obvious now especially in the morning and at night.
The acupuncture sounds enjoyable, and I love the positivity!
Sorry you're having a tough time Jod, I hope you're looking forward to your gender reveal party!
Sounds like everyone is busy with all the dtd!!

Tee4me · 25/08/2016 22:20

Hi everybody!
Parney great to hear from you, wow a pound already! I loved it when I first felt movements with DS, can't wait for that feeling again!
Jem/Russ your acupuncture experiences sound so different from mine! I don't find that it's relaxing on any level at all really. My guy said the most important time to come was around ovulation and again shortly after to keep progesterone up if conception happened. Totally different to your recommended app times Russ. I got needles in my ankles, stomach, wrists, forehead and head, so totally different to you Jem! On my last app (around ov) I had needles around where I suspect my ovaries are. He also said best DTD strategy is daily a few days before ov and a few days after. Funny how different the advice is!!
Does anyone else get irritable around ovulation? My DS drove me up the wall today, and I remember the same last month, as I was upset that I was getting so stressed when conception could be going on. I genuinely don't feel irritable tho, but it's like he gets the devil in him some days, maybe he's subconsciously aware that a competitor is gearing up to enter the world?! Haha!

Tee4me · 25/08/2016 22:22

Jodders I really feel for you! Hope you don't end up on crutches! x

Tee4me · 25/08/2016 22:24

Kate hope the new supplements give you a boost! I'm a veggie, so most likely am lacking in iron. Dried apricots are a good source x

Tee4me · 25/08/2016 22:29

Footy that is odd with the temps. I think one dip below coverline can be written off, but I get that it worries you they are lower in general. I really hate temping, but I dabbled a bit again this cycle because I really wanted to pinpoint the day. Took it randomly one evening and it was 35.70something, super low... took it again an hour later and was 36.60something?! One off readings do have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Your general pattern is above coverline, so I really think you ovulated x
