How late does your period have to be before you panic?

If your last period was the 17 December and today is the 23rd January and there's no sign of a period, what would you do?

Shall I just calm down and only worry if I haven't had a period by 17 February?

If I am pregnant will a test show that I am this early on?

I would give it a few more days before I panicked.

Think that if you were preggers that a test could confirm it this early on though.

IdrisTheDragon · 23/01/2007 12:49

When I conceived DD my last period was 16th December and I had a positive test on 12th January.

I would probably do a test.

Jessajam · 23/01/2007 12:51

Depends on how long your cycle usually isand how regular you are...but if I was about 10-14 days late I'd probably test.

JARM · 23/01/2007 12:53

im in the same boat, last AF 21st Dec, still nothing. Cycle day 34 today. I am always usually 28/29 days, but last month was only 23 days - my body is playing up as all pg tests are neg

ButterfliesInStomach · 23/01/2007 12:55

Jessajam · 23/01/2007 12:57

Test, cos either way at least you'll know.

ButterfliesInStomach · 23/01/2007 12:57

OK, thanks.

Personally I don't keep a record of my periods so I would have no idea what day of my cycle I was on anyway. In the past when not ttc I have usually tested at around 6-7 weeks after my last AF, mainly because I think 'I must be due a period by now !', but I have no exactly how 'late' I am.

FurryFox · 23/01/2007 16:28

I also haven't had af since 19 December. No signs of her coming either , usually have a 29-ish day cycle.

Have done 3 tests but all BFNs. Some people don't get BFPs till day 37 but usually I think a BFP would show up by now.

Are you going to test Butterflies?

ButterfliesInStomach · 23/01/2007 16:35

Yes, think I'll have to. I went to the supermarket in my lunch-hour and didn't have my purse I've left it at home. So will have to wait until tomorrow now. Really not sure how I'm going to feel or how the news is going to be received.

How about you?

OP posts:
FurryFox · 23/01/2007 16:40

How annoying about your purse.

It's our first month of ttc so would love to get a positive but as already had 3 negatives not feeling very optimistic.

Is it not really planned if you are pg then? Sorry to be nosey!

ButterfliesInStomach · 23/01/2007 16:46

Well I hope you get the result you want. Fingers tightly crossed for you.

No mine won't be planned. We are mad though as we haven't been using protection. I'd like another, I wouldn't have chosen to be pregnant again just yet tbh. DH has said he doesn't want anymore though, so.... not sure what will happen if I am. He should have thought of that when he didn't use a condom aye!

FurryFox · 23/01/2007 16:52

Thanks Butterflies.

I hope things work out whatever the result, I hope dh comes round to the idea if you are pg? Does he know you haven't had your af yet?

You're right in what you say, he should have thought about using something he didn't want any more children.

Keep us updated and let us know when you test. Have got my fingers crossed for you too but not sure which way I am crossing them for!?

ButterfliesInStomach · 23/01/2007 17:00

LOL, I think I'll be terrified if I am but disappointed if I'm not.
Only time will tell. If I'm not it's given me the kick up the backside I need re contraception. Will be more careful in future. If I am, well, as long as DH doesn't put a spanner in the works I'll be very happy tbh.

Basically I don't know what to think but I will let you know.

Thank you and I pray you have a positive result very soon.

Have you told your DP yet oh and congratulations...

FurryFox · 23/01/2007 22:08

Congratulations (hope it's ok to say that already ).

Does DH know?

ButterfliesInStomach · 23/01/2007 23:07

He's not happy, at all, says he doesn't want it Have started a thread in relationships, didn't know where else to put it. Don't quite know what's going to happen. First things first it has to sink in, then we start talking I guess, weighing up the pros and cons. I have 2 sons, one of whom has special needs and other just turned 1. A lot to think about.
