Hugh enjoys ISW and his love affair with Doreen. He watches out for skittle tits and weepyitis. Mrs Arseholey Fucknut (Af) shows up when you least want her but brings wine and soft cheese as a consolation prize.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind and well meaning but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly don't convince yourself you're pregnant in the tww That is paramount! It messes with your head and makes you crazy crazier

We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts. We want a fanny full of determined Doreen, not unicorn farts and gnome tears with extra sparkle. We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area.

Post your stats and add your dates. A more lovely, supportive group of ladies you couldn't wish to meet. We've got a few grads sticking around I won't leave and no question is too daft. We have opk experts, cervical mucus management teams and symptom spotters extraudinaire!

Marmite would you really not consider telling them the truth? I know it's unusual, but if it's a close enough friend for you to be BM, and your family, it could be an option?

Obviously a very personal decision for you but don't write it off straightaway - you could have a lovely weekend of double celebrations with people you love :)

Pugmummy87 · 09/08/2016 18:34

Cd49 today. Urghhhhh! Never have i wanted AF to rear her ugly head so much! Did a test at the weekend just in case and was bfn.

lovely I have pcos if you need to talk about it. As others have said, plenty of women get pregnant with pcos and at least now you know, you can get appropriate treatment/advice. Have you had any blood tests to look at hormone levels?

kwick good to see you.

liveforthefight · 09/08/2016 18:35

Tricky one marmite, I'd be inclined to pull a sickie, then once you're a little further along let her know, though as penguin says if it's a close friend you could just tell her straight.

Not great tbh, I know I should be jumping for joy and grateful for the bfp, but I'm already terrified that something will go wrong again and am overanalysing every twinge. I emailed the midwife unit today to see if I can get an early scan, but I'm not sure that would really help settle me. Every time I wee I'm scared to look down in case I'm bleeding 😕

kwick · 09/08/2016 18:49

That is the spirit fxskip!

I love that jem!!! I actually made a cake last week... Was a slight disaster due to "challengette" with baking powder but I may have another go tonight as the recipe is so easy (all based around a small yoghurt pot).
What will I award cakes for though? I am the worst for doing loads of POAS... Do not think I ever got a starky Star....

lovely sorry to hear about PCOS. I have this too - as do so many women. You can defo still get upduffed. Now that I think about it this has never come up as an issue at my clinic.
How did they diagnose you?
Some people have lots of cysts, others have cysts and symptoms - oui c'est moi!
If you are symptomless you are lucky - here are mine:

  • huge weight gain (size 10 to size 20) ok I may be a bit of a pig too
  • lovely dark hair growth on chin, boobage and upper lip
-insomnia
  • dry eye syndrome

So I am all stocked up on meds (DHEA, 5mg folic acid, thyroxine) and today is my last day on Norethisterone and then hopefully will get AF in time for booked baseline scan next Monday. Trying to keep cray-cray at bay...

marmitecheesetoast · 09/08/2016 19:45

Thanks for all the replies guys. She is an old friend, but not overly close, we don't share a lot if that makes sense. I think if it was one of my other very close friends I would tell them. I also don't know the other bridesmaids at all. The plan is to actually buy the dresses this weekend if possible as we all live all over the place so coming together in one place this weekend for the shopping trip. Hhmm I am still very undecided! I think if I do go home I will tell my parents now, as worrying about keeping it a secret from them is stressful in itself. Just need to figure out the bridesmaid bit Hmm

Awh I can imagine live. I too am really worried everytime I go for a wee I'll see blood. I am still poas almost every day at the moment too Hmm probably need to start curbing that habit! I have loads of ICs so figure I may as well use some up though.

I like the sound of Kwick cake! Cake

LondonJem · 09/08/2016 20:40

live no need to be sorry for feeling scared, I'd imagine the early weeks of pregnancy are terrifying. Talk about it all you need to. Are you still POAS? I think a scan is a good idea and hope that it reassures you.

pug how frustrating Envy hope you aren't waiting much longer

kwicks cake Cake could be for TWW best practise? Diet and warm toes etc? I still think awards for waiting to test are a good thing

Such a tough one marmite think you will need to go with your gut on this one. If she is wanting to buy the dresses this weekend you might need to tell her and just explain how sensitive, early confidential it is etc.

Had a glass of Wine tonight and feeling guilty Blush

AliceScarlett · 09/08/2016 20:55

What the? I have a few days away from here and we get two BFPs!! Huge congratulations live and marmite StarStar FlowersStarStar We needed those, it's been too long.

lovely Sorry to hear about the pcos Sad I know most women conceive with it, hopefully now you can get the treatment and then get the BFP.

Put me down for the 24th Jem.

The dildo cam was inconclusive, the fibroid "is probably causing the bleeding"? They want to rescan in 6 weeks. No idea why. GP said that if I'm not pregnant when I come for the results of the scan we can start testing.

Onwards and upwards people!

kwick · 09/08/2016 20:57

marmite even to week 7 I was POAS every week if not more it was very reassuring Smile
Hopefully dresses will be lycra stretchy or kaftan stylie? Confused I would only say anything if confidentiality is assured

jem I love that idea for kwick Cake!!!

Are any if you watching My Kitchen Rules Australia? Boy is it getting brutal!

miwelaisjacydo · 10/08/2016 06:38

Morning all ....hope all ok with everyone. After a few crap days at home have tried to fill my days which has made the day go faster as The TWW really takes its tole on me. Today though have a good day planned. Have a day with a super cool nine year old. I do respite care for a family but it's not s job it's just a real treat. So here's today a day of swimming and lunch out and the park. Bliss.

purpleladybird · 10/08/2016 07:16

marmite could you tell your friend you are trying for a baby and if you fall pregnant quickly you could be heavily pregnant at the wedding?

If not I would tell her. Do you know what kind of dress she is thinking about and can you research maternity options?

LondonJem · 10/08/2016 08:22

Sounds like progress alice keep us posted. You are down for the 24th

kwick I don't watch it, I'm completely addicted to the olympics atm Shock

Morning miw that sounds like such a nice day! Enjoy.

I've got a full on day at work, am really stressed out about my budget and over spending at the moment. Spreadsheets are not my friend. I'm having anxiety dreams about it now - last night I had to move to Australia with work. It was awful Confused

In better news this is probably one of the calmest TWW I've had. I have thought about it and googled a bit but not the usual hysterical roller coaster.

LovelyFishy · 10/08/2016 08:55

Thank you Pug, it was just such a shock yesterday when I found out! I'm sorry AF is mucking you about again. Do yo take any pills or meds for PCOS?

Kwick I have zero symptoms. Clockwork 28 day periods, size 8, no extra body hair, sleep is my favourite thing ever, I'm naughty and wear my contact lenses all the time so no dry eyes...Gah! I was diagnosed via an external ultrasound, no getting to giggle at the dildo I'm afraid.

I had 21 day bloods last cycle and was told they were "normal" but I don't know what they were looking for. I had more blood taken yesterday which will be discussed with the doctor next Tuesday but I've no idea what they were taken for! Hormones I guess? I'll have a lot of questions to ask, better prepare a list!

FXSkip · 10/08/2016 10:35

miw that sounds really lovely, good for your soul too :)

Live this is possibly not helpful, but here's what I learned from my failed pg:

  1. POAS every day is a waste of money. HCG levels are sketchy as hell, and may show pregnancy for up to three weeks after a miscarriage, so by all means do it if you find it reassuring, but it doesn't mean anything.
  2. Bleeding and intense pain are the only suspect symptoms - mild twinges are normal - but even bleeding is not conclusive as it is common and doesn't always mean bad news.
  3. Early scans are a good thing in my opinion. I had my first at week 7 and was then prepared for the worst - even with all other normal symptoms and tests remaining positive - there was no baby and only the scans confirmed that. Having the early scans saved me 5 weeks of blissfully thinking I was pg when I wasn't really.
  4. Try to see positive tests as an early warning that you could be pregnant - like 75% pregnant if that makes sense. Carry on living your life as normal, just don't smoke or get wasted (and take your folic acid). Nothing else you do will have an impact at this stage - people still manage to make babies in warzones, or in famine, whilst training for Olympics etc and sometimes pregnancies don't work out no matter what you do.

We are all rooting for you, and here if you need to vent/rant/ask silly questions love!

LondonJem · 10/08/2016 11:00

Lovely do you get positive OPK tests at about the right time each month too?

I'm worried I might have it too, but like you I have regular periods.

AudreyBradshaw · 10/08/2016 11:50

I'm heeeeeere! Sorry! I've been dreadfully amiss with posting! Don't test early! It is a foul mistress of despair and unrest amd stress! Wait till you're actually late! Grin

CONGRATULATIONS MARMITE AND LIVE Woohoooooo! 📯👑🎊🎂🎁🎉💐 there will now be a glut of bfp's! It is decreed!

Need to do a proper catch up on the thread!

(Being a not my news sharer here and sorry for the baby bomb but if anyone remembers Bunch, she had her baby yesterday. She was the first of the first on the first thread to get a bfp!)

LovelyFishy · 10/08/2016 13:40

Jem I did for a couple of months and always got positives around the right time. Maybe I am still ovulating and just really unlucky I'm not pg yet??

We thought DH was having his test today, but no! Doctor said you just do the sample and turn up, luckily we called ahead and it turns out you have to book in. Very next available appointment is the end of September!!!! Shock

Hello again Starky! Hope everything is going super with you and wolf cub.

LondonJem · 10/08/2016 23:01

Starky thanks for sharing the news that is awesome. Please pass on my congrats! Has she shared a pic, I might have to have a nose.. Glad all going well with you.

Lovely I get positive opks every month shag shag shag and nothing for 8 cycles - so yes it could be we are both just unlucky. I'm getting blood test done when next period comes to look into pcos possibility too.

Was meant to have no booze this TWW - been out for dinner two nights in a row with old colleagues and had at least two glasses of wine each night BlushWineWineWineWine

TryingToBeZenKestrel · 11/08/2016 06:48

Hi all,
Congrats live and Marmite!

(OK. Failed to go cold turkey leaving this group( too much awesomeness)).
Thanks for all the good wishes. My head is in a better place this week. Hope you don't mind me popping in to say hi.

No news to tell you, other than no AF and next GP appt booked.

ArtOfKnit · 11/08/2016 07:29

Hi ladies,

Can I join in? Have been having a read and you seem like such a nice, supportive bunch...Smile

I'm Art, 33, and today I took my final pill! I have a vague memory of my periods being fairly regular, so perhaps my first real period will be due on something like the 12th Sept? That said, I have no idea what might happen post pill to my cycle! Did anyone here have problems once they stopped taking the pill? Thanks all!

TryingToBeZenKestrel · 11/08/2016 07:43

Hi art start taking folic acid ( if your not already). I started my periods pretty much straight away, but it can take up to 6 months.

All rants and crazy talk welcome here!

AliceScarlett · 11/08/2016 07:47

Hep (kinda want to call you Kez now!) I think you should lurk and de-lurk as much as you want.

Pleased to hear your head is in a slightly better place and I hope the GP is useful and gets the AF ball rolling.

Welcome Art I was on the patch which is basically the same just in, well, patch form. I had a bleed and then AF 28 days later. Good luck!

DH is doing bloody well this month, jizz every other day. Yesterday he said he wasn't in the mood, was a bit stroppy, so I was a bit ott in saying "oh no worries, let's leave it, no point trying when you're not in the mood, doesn't matter in the slightest" etc etc, thought he would clock it, but came back into the room 2min later and he was, ahem, ready to go. As if reverse psychology actually works.

InspectorPenguin · 11/08/2016 07:52

Welcome Art. Definitely do the folic acid if not already, and as for periods... it's a bit of a lottery!

I was regular 28-30 days as a teenager and was then on Microgynon for 18 years. I had one break about 10 years ago where I didn't get a single period for 6 or 7 months, but this time my first one arrived after 38 days and they have steadily reduced to 31 days for my sixth cycle.

You hear all sorts of stories though, including people falling pregnant within a few weeks of their last pill, so anything is possible.

Enjoy the excitement of the start of the TTC journey and ask away if you have any questions :)

InspectorPenguin · 11/08/2016 07:56

Also welcome back Zen! Glad you're feeling better.

And Jem don't worry at all about drinking. There really is no evidence to suggest it has any impact - certainly not at just a few glasses. Much more important that you get on with your life, enjoy yourself and relax so don't feel AT ALL guilty!

purpleladybird · 11/08/2016 07:57

Good work on the reverse psychology Alice. Welcome Art and welcome back Hep*.

No news here. It's my day off work today so I'm having a day out with my sister. Shop. Lunch. Maybe more shop. Really want to see the new Bourne film so hope that features. Really wish I'd booked tomorrow as holiday cos it's not my weekend to work and then my next rest day is Monday so I could have been off until Tuesday. Doh. If only I paid as much attention to my work rots as my fertility one!

ArtOfKnit · 11/08/2016 08:11

Thanks all! Didn't even think about folic acid Blush I will get myself some, or maybe some of the pre pregancy vitamins I've just googled asap and fingers crossed that my cycle gets back on track quickly.
