Sperm capacitation - learnt something today!

Found this on the internet today, thought it was interesting. Means waiting till ovulation day/positive ovulation test is leaving it often too late? I just thought as soon as sperm was in there it could meet the egg: apparently not! From the Internet:

It can take up to 10 hours for a man's sperm to complete the capacitation process and be able to fertilize a woman's egg. This is why the five days before ovulation are so important. Once ovulation takes place, sperm have a very brief window of time to fertilize the egg.

But from my understanding you ovulate 24-36hours after a positive OPK, so surely DTD on the day of a positive ovulation is the best because that gives the sperm 10hours & time to be waiting in the fallopian tubes for the egg which will be released in 24-36hours.

Ahhh, neither are mine but they have gotten a lot better since TTC & working out CDs, DPO, days late, the timings of DTD etc.

If I ever manage to conceive then I think it'll be me telling the midwife dates & timings rather than her telling me. I'm sure she'll think I'm crazy
