Sorry boat ! Fingers crossed for next month
Sounds like a plan bummy

oatybiscuits · 07/10/2016 09:53

Ha I feel a bit the same Abraham, after getting pregnant shockingly quickly twice we couldn't take the option of 'not really trying', now I'm feeling impatient! Second night of proper night weaning though, and it's been ok. He was up for about an hour, mad, but trying to sleep and he did eventually manage. Totally made up for it with 3 hours of boob snoozing this morning

Jess I guess the docs were happy enough that breastfeeding wouldn't necessarily affect your fertility if they prescribed clomid?

Abrahamkin · 07/10/2016 10:31

Ah boat. Day 42 is evil!

jessplussomeonenew · 08/10/2016 12:37

Oaty, I think it's bunny going on clomid, not me, though I'd be interested in doing the same. I wouldn't mind stopping personally but can't find a way to cut down without distressing DS, so if my supply reduced and he lost interest that would be no bad thing. He's had a lot of change in his life lately so if anything is feeding more than before.

curliegirlie · 09/10/2016 10:12

Well I'm now about half way through my first PP cycle and I'm really surprised how (I think!!) everything's doing what it's meant to. I didn't start temping for a good few days in, because I thought that waking at random times and not always getting that full 3 hours sleep before waking up for the morning might screw it up, but the temps I've been getting so far seem pretty similar to when I was temping before DD. I even had a positive OPK on day 14 and had a really dirty dream the following night, meaning I was properly up for DTD for the first time since she was born (normally my mindset's been more like, 'oh dear, here we go again' before I get into it), and now I'm seeing a post-ov temperature rise! All in all, I'm pretty chuffed, regardless of whether this ends up being the month...I'm just glad my body's playing ball after a tough time ttc #1! Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

dillydollydarling · 11/10/2016 22:10

Ordered some opks last week as I'm not sure if I'm actually ovulating or not. Should I be testing every day? Is there anything other than cutting down feeds that can kick start my body back into ovulating?

curliegirlie · 11/10/2016 23:27

dillydollydarling depends where in your cycle you are. Normally they say from about CD11, but if you're in the middle of a weird cycle, you might as well go from now....What are your cycles like at the mo?

dillydollydarling · 12/10/2016 17:38

It's been 4 weeks since I had the implant out and I haven't had a period at all. So I don't really have any sort of cycle to go off!!

curliegirlie · 12/10/2016 18:35

Keep on testing daily then! Good luck Smile

JaneEyreWasASellout · 15/10/2016 11:28

Hullo. I have a... uhm... question. Sorry if it is weird or has been asked before. Hmm No periods, still bfing. Last time periods only returned after I stopped and then I didn't ovulate for months after that. At the time an obstetrician asked why didn't I just take the pill for a bit to kick-start my ovulation. So thought I'd try it this time. Anyone done it? Did it work? Anyone able to offer suggestions on mini pill or normal pill for this? TIA!

curliegirlie · 15/10/2016 16:26

How old is your DC Jane Eyre? I'm in the middle of my first PP cycle now and my DD is 13 months. I cut down feeding a little, by giving formula around lunchtime/early afternoon for a few weeks and that seems to have done the trick. I also show signs (OPK, temps) of having ovulated too, which I wasn't expecting first cycle, so you never know..

JaneEyreWasASellout · 15/10/2016 16:44

curlie dc is ~7m. I'm old, hence the hurry. Last time I waited and waited and tried allthe tricks in the book to no avail. I stopped completely before I wanted to at I think around 18m, but still no luck even after my periods came back. Eventually went private for something similar to clomid which did the trick first time. But have now been hounded by what the Obgyn said and want to try it while continuing bfing.

JaneEyreWasASellout · 15/10/2016 16:49

Wish I had asked the Obgyn more about it last time! Angry

JaneEyreWasASellout · 03/11/2016 13:16

This group is dead-quiet, innit? Grin
Fwiw thought I'd share my news as it was unorthodox but seems to have worked. Copied and pasted from another thread I wrote this on:
"I've just managed to manipulate my AF back through "improper" use of contraception (which I'm obviously not advising although I explained what I hoped to achieve to my gp) but have no idea yet if I will have a useful LP or indeed if I will ovulate. If things look dodgy this time around I will go the induced ovulation and bullets route sooner regardless of cost. "
So in short I have had a period or at least a bleed of some kind after starting and then stopping oral contraception. Didn't change my bfing at all. Will be trying opks to see if my body is attemptingATTACHED ovulate and see if I get another AF, what my LP is like etc.
But for those struggling to get AF back while bfing, this might be worthwhile trying. I'm aware it could all be coincidence, but comparing to last time, it feels as if I had managed to intervene to some extent with this method.

Abrahamkin · 03/11/2016 13:33

Ha! Not much to update from here. AF arrived yesterday after a 34 day cycle (longest cycle since the birth). Pah! So another round it is.

curliegirlie · 03/11/2016 16:43

Well, despite me thinking my cycle was playing ball, it turned out to be only 26 days long - my shortest ever! Pre-DD I even had one of about 145 days, and even when things settled down it was 30 or 31 days, so it was a bit of a shock to have AF to arrive when she did! No idea what's happening this cycle - I've been a bit crap at temping, and I think I may have missed a +OPK, as it was heading that way a couple of days ago and now has completely disappeared. If I get my act together with the thermometer over the next few days hopefully I'll be able to see if I have actually ovulated or not....I Don't hold out a huge amount of hope for this cycle, as we've only DTD once or twice in my fertile window...

Writerwannabe83 · 04/11/2016 21:41

Two weeks ago I decided to stop breast feeding DS as since TTC I miscarried on cycle 1 and then all subsequent cycles (6 or 7) have been BFNs each month. I wasn't feeding him very often (2-3 times in 24 hours) but it was always in my mind that it was the BF'ing that was stopping me from falling pregnant so I decided to stop.

My period is due tomorrow and then my first cycle post-BF will begin so it will be interesting to see what happens from here....

curliegirlie · 05/11/2016 13:13

Good luck Writer, I hope stopping works for you.

After a couple of higher temps in the last few days, today's temperature (CD17) was pretty low so I don't know if this cycle will turn out to be anovulatory, or whether I'll end up ovulating a bit later than last month. Hmm. I suppose at least if it's the latter we'll be in with more of a chance this month...

oatybiscuits · 06/11/2016 08:29

Interesting writer, so how does that work? You take the pill for a short amount of time? Cycle 3 since coming off the pill here but last period was heavier than I ever remember them being pre- baby. Hopefully that's a good sign! Night weaning is pretty much complete; so much that ds is having his first sleepover at granny's next week and we're having our first child free night in 2 years! Fingers crossed it coincides perfectly with ov!

oatybiscuits · 06/11/2016 08:30

Sorry not writer, Jane eyre

ricepolo · 07/11/2016 13:44

Hello. Please can I join? I'm currently ttc#4, having just stopped BF my youngest about 4 weeks ago. I was convinced last week that I was pregnant (had all the symptoms 24/7) but they've now stopped and I've dug out my old thermometer and my temps yesterday and today are nowhere near pregnancy level. So it seems like it's just my body playing with me (it does this: after stopping BF #1 and #2 it took a good few months to regulate everything again). Randomly did an OPK this morning which looked almost positive so am hoping that it's the end of a surge rather than the start, since DH left this morning for a 5 day work trip...!

Am trying not to get too obsessed with it this time though. I've been incredibly fortunate in terms of getting pregnant (I have a complicated gynae history including ovarian cancer) and have fallen extremely quickly with all three, so am trying to count my blessings and let it happen when it will.

Not taking anything herbal wise, just pregnancy vits. Trying to cut down a bit on my exercise to see if that helps things sort themselves out quicker (am a healthy weight but quite muscular so might be good to lose a bit of that).

Good luck to all!

SleepFreeZone · 04/12/2016 11:09

Not sure if this is still an active thread or have you started a new one?

If it's still active can I ask if you can get regular periods whilst breast feeding and not ovulate? In guessing that's what's Hong on with me as I was TTC for ages pre DS2 so know the changes in cervical mucus and I don't seem to be getting the creamy stuff that normally comes post OV.

DS2 is 10 months old and feeding twice in the night still. No plans to give up, I'm an older mum at 41 so my hormones will be weak. We would like to try again but I'm pretty convinced it's very unlikely.

SleepFreeZone · 04/12/2016 11:10

Cycles are around 28 days long.
