Putting TTC on hold

Hi everyone

Just looking for anyone who can share experiences of putting TTC on hold.

Dd is 1 year old. We had started TTC a few months ago and then I got a job offer which was a fantastic opportunity. I want to focus on my career for a bit and think about TTC again in a year's time (as it may take a lot of cycles for it to happen!)

I feel sad seeing other mummies on to their second pregnancy already but I know in my mind that the job is the right thing for us, for now. Would like to hear if you had similar feelings and how your plans worked out? Did you feel it was worth putting on hold?

Can't offer any advice as you know what's right for you. My DH and I have decided to try again (LB is 1) even though I am very focussed on my career and there is a good opportunity at the moment.

What I wanted to say though is that I think it is incredibly difficult that we have to make these choices... So much harder than I ever thought x

Thank you - it's such an individual decision and really incredibly hard. I think I need to start enjoying what's right in front of me and try to worry less about controlling things!

I would say concentrate on the job opportunity at the moment. If your little one is only one you have plenty of time to have another. I have a 13 month old and I'm 6 months pregnant and working full time. It's hard!! This pregnancy was unplanned, a complete shock in fact, and although we're very happy now, given the choice I would've waited another year before having a second. Employers are far from happy to have you back for just 3 months before you announce you're pregnant again so that really doesn't help with the stress of being pregnant and having a very young toddler.

I'm in a similar situation to you, but a bit further down the track in that our DD is 4.5 years now, and we've been trying for quite a while. But I just wanted to say that I know it really isn't an easy decision - there are so many emotional variables and it feels like there is no right answer. It does sound like time is on your side, though, so there might be more flexibility than you think...

Winnie - its so kind of you to give such an honest opinion. And congratulations! I think I need to concentrate on the real opportunity in front of me and less on the idea of having another baby soon. DH doesn't feel ready yet and we both need to be on the same page.

Luxnuova - you're right, it is just so difficult. I imagine it must be stressful and exhausting in lots of different ways to have been trying for a while. You've helped me realise that I'm not in a "now or never" situation and that there's a right time for everything.
