Stupid Question About Falling Pregnant Whilst on the Pill?

How does this happen?

I don't understand how it can.

You need to be ovulating to fall pregnant and if you miss 1 pill you have to take extra precautions for a week.

So what are the chances of missing the pill and ovulating at the same time??

anyone??

Just curious.

TIA

i think f you miss pills at the beginning or end of your pack, then your 7 day gap is bigger

so your natural ovulation hormones get time to build up more and so your more likely to reach the stage where you pop and egg out

if you miss one mis pack, its much less likely but you should still definatly use precautions

omg that was awful - did have screaming baby on my lap tho

should read -

if you miss one MID pack.

what i meant was your gap id longer, 8, 9, 10 days - so your hormones build up to ovulation

okay!!

So would it be okay if you missed one in the middle of the pack then?

I know its a stupid question but I just don't get it !!

it wouldnt be ok, but its not AS dangerous

but if you do ever mis one, ever, anywhere in the pack, use condoms for 7 days to be safe

I don't know how it happens but it does happen. I took my Pill religiously for 10 years but still conceived while I was taking it. No sickness, no missed pills, nothing. And if conception can happen when you're taking it properly, then there has to be an even bigger likelihood of it happening with missed pills - whether it's at the beginning/end of the pack or not.

WWW thats much have been a shock

I took it for 10 years but missed some sometimes and never fell pregnant but wonder if that was because I only have one working tube...so makes it bit more difficult anyways...

A shock just about sums it up

We came to terms with it in the end and by the time she arrived dd was very much wanted, but it wasn't the way I had my life planned, I have to say!

No contraceptive is 100% effective, even when used properly. I think the combined Pill is about 98%, from memory - so there are a small number who will get pregnant even when taking it properly.
