Thin womb lining - any ideas how to improve?

Hello! All advice and ideas appreciated!
I had a follicle scan today (2nd cycle of Clomid 50mg) and was told I have 1 mature follicle and 1 nearly there (18mm and 15mm) - cd9
This sounds promising BUT my womb ling is 5mm at best and the doc said she felt this may cause a problem with implantation.

Do any of you know what I can take / do to improve the womb lining thickness??

THANKS - maybe if I can solve this then things may start to happen... fingers crossed

hello

congratulations ive been taking clomid too but had no developing follicles and uterus lining was 4.8mm however doctor give me cyclogest pessaries which will induce another bleed or if i have ovulated later than the day 10 -15 scan will help pg because they thicken lining of womb for implantation so im just keeping my fingers crossed. he also told me if after week of stopping cyclogest no af to do pg test and if bfp then will go back on pessaries as i have pcos but would think even if you dont have pcos they would still make your uterus lining thicker he told me has to be over at least 6mm for implantation. hope this makes sense and helps you. good luck.

Hi izzy

Is PCOS an issue with your good self?. I ask this as thin endometrical lining can occur with this condition.

ShouldKnowByFriday · 18/01/2007 19:00

I had acupuncture to assist fertility plus Clomid. The acupuncturist told me she could work on de-stressing me and womb lining. They described my lining as juicy when they measured it on day 15 (I had the egg releaing jab) as between 8-11mm depending on cycle. I have never had my lining measured before acupuncture so don't know if there was a difference but I am pleased that I gave it a go. I am now preg with twins. Good luck.

keep trying to post and it fails - I'll try this to test

Wierd - seems to work now.

I'll try again.

Attila - My doc suspected PCOS but scans have not shown anything.

Wayzee - sorry to read clomid isn't working for you - is your doc planning to up the dose or try other meds?
I think I ov most cycles (using temp charting) but I'm on clomid coz my luteal phase is very short (7-9 days) - the drug may boost my egg quality and may me the corpus luteum continues to pump out progesterone for a bit longer.

The thin lining issue is a worry but also gives me some hope IYSWIM - if this is a problem maybe it has been for a while and maybe sorting it out could bring results. Hope Hope Hope.

SKBF - Great to read you are expecting twins. GREAT! I am having acupunture - and I'll talk to her about the lining issue next appointment.

Right - my next scan is at 3pm - fingers crossed it'll all look a bit more promising

Attila / SKBF /Wayzee
If you are still looking at this thread I'd appreciate your thoughts.
I had a bit of a weird experience at the hospital - freaked me out a bit. This is a bit long winded - thanks for anyone who can be bothered to read- I need to get it off my chest.
On Wed I had the first scan for follicle monitoring (2nd clomid cycle) - the doc said I needn't come back because the lead follicle is 18mm, (though, as I said, my lining looked too thin and she wanted to talk to my consultant about my next cycle).

My DH (thank god) asked why they don't do another scan to find out if the lining is improving - so I went back yesterday. The scan was done and the doctor said "I'll be back in a minute". Great. That's exactly how to put the fear of god into me.
On return he explained I had not yet ov'd and had a risk of 4 follicles maturing (they were 22, 18 16 & 13 mm?. plus a number of 11s).
So - my options were to use barrier method / abstain for the rest of this cycle or to immediately have the injection "ovitrelle" to bring on ov asap. The risk of a multiple pg is high and dangerous for me and potential babes.

Of course the problem is we have already started trying this month - and given sperm can live upto 5 days - the risk was already high.
Also - we have been ttc for nearly 3 yrs - It feels the cahnce of it happining at all are tiny.

They hospital have asked me to go back for a day 21 blood test but no futher scans.

SO... I went for the injection. And we are going for is IYSWIM. I still don't know if this was the right decision - and (if you've got this far!!) I'd really appreciate some wise words. HELP.

izzygetsbusy,

Think you made the right decision but feel that the clomid could have overstimulated your ovaries hence the multiple follicles. I realise you have not officially been diagnosed with PCOS but in such patients generally clomid should be used with a degree of caution.

What are your LH and FSH levels like, have these been looked at recently?. I ask this as clomid can increase production of LH, as many women with PCOS have an excess of this hormone to start with, clomid may not actually help all such patients.

What dose of clomid are you on?.

Once this cycle is over I would start a discussion with them as to whether they think you are able to continue with the clomid or whether they feel other treatments should now be tried.

izzygetsbusy · 20/01/2007 11:54

Thanks Attila
I'm on 50mg, 2nd cycle. I am going to be overseas half of next cycle so I have discussed not taking it next cycle - as no monitoring will be possible.

Haven't had LH /FSH done for about a year.

Do you think I should ahve any other follow up this cycle?

AttilaTheMeerkat · 20/01/2007 12:00

You should have an up to date LH/FSH blood test result and I would ask them about them doing another test bearing in mind the last one is a year old. BTW any results of tests done over six months ago should be discounted.

WOuld have thought they ought to do another internal ultrasound to see current state of ovaries and follicles on them.

Does cons think you have PCOS?. I would have a long chat with him about this clomid cycle that has happened and what his opinions are re the multiple follicles.

Izzy, haven't seen your post over weekend so no reply from me so far. My clinic gave the fsh jab when one follicle was 18mm as any yet to mature could do so within the 36hrs before the eggs are released anyway. I agree there is a risk of a multiple pregnancy which has a higher risk of miscarriage. When I had my egg releasing jab the lead was Left side: 19mm, 14.4, 2x 12-14mm, on my right side 16mm and 10mm. We did timed intercourse at 1am which was exactly 36 hrs after the jab and then the next night at 1am(not on purpose it was just the time we got into bed). This resulted in triplets which was a shock but I had one reduced (injection of potassium chloride, long story) so am now pregnant with twins. Fertility clinics like to see single pregnancies as less of a risk of miscarrying but if you have a multiple pregnancy there are very good specialists to see you through.

Also, re: acupuncture, have 2 more sessions quick so she can work on lining as implantation won't be for 7-10 days after egg release so there is time to build it up (I think). Very best of luck. When is day 21 for you?

wayzee · 02/02/2007 19:44

Loisi · 18/03/2007 21:23

Hi,

I've just been through two weeks of IUI drugs and had a bleed on day 10. Nurses felt the cycle was compromised, therefore gave me the ovulation drug and we tried naturally over the weekend. The scan on day 12 showed 3 good follicles and womb lining was quite thick but'mottled' and looked about eady to break down ( their words). Anyone else had experience of this and what can I do next cycle?
