Hi
I'm getting married on the 16th July.
I have a none hormonal coil which works fine. ..
I worked out I'd be having the dreaded period on wedding day, spoke to family planning. I was advised to go on cerelle mini pill see how I get on and remove coil in 3 weeks.
I hate this pill...feel bloated sore boobs and spotting, feels like my body wants to bop.
I'm thinkin of leaving coil in place and stop taking the pill until say 3rd July, hopefully bleedin will end before weddibg. ...
Any thoughts or experience.
Thank you in advance

This happened to me but on honeymoon!

Is the pill you have been given a mini pill ie progesterone only? That is what I got and it made me feel horrendous too.

Have been given mefenamic acid in the past - maybe you could ask about it?

Thank you for your reply. ..
Yes it's a mini pill...
I will Google mefenamic acid...does it stop pain and that bloated feeling I wonder? I will read up on it .
Thank you
Again

Try the depo injection. This stops your periods entirely and has very few side effects for most people - none at all for me. Lasts for 12 weeks. Or what about changing to the hormonal type of coil or the implant? I've never tried a coil but the injection and implant have both worked well for me in the past. I can't take combined pill due to cluster migraines.
GP should be able to give you a range of options.

This happened to me too. I left the copper coil in and stopped taking the pill two weeks before wedding. Had withdrawal bleed right away (was on the pill for about 3 weeks in total) and then period came a month later - after honeymoon. It was a bit of luck. Kept the copper coil for over a year after wedding. There are options, but every single one has possible side effects - wouldn't recommend depo if you are thinking of ttc in the near future for example... If you are happy with the coil (mine was horrendous and caused excruciating pain all the time, 10 day periods), then keep it!

Hi OP, I was due to have my period on holiday a couple of years ago, my GP prescribed Norethisterone to block it which worked! maybe this is an option? Smile

Eminado · 22/05/2016 13:22

Norethisterone is progesterone ie mini pill

VioletVaccine · 22/05/2016 17:00

Is it Eminado? Oops I didn't even know- i hadn't been on the Pill of any kind before asking my GP for something, and she prescribed that.

Guess you didn't read the leaflet in the box Grin

Jan
Yes mefenamic will relieve pain -
Not sure about bloating though. I rely on peppermint tea for that. Wink
