Can Benadryl help with implantation?

www.healthboards.com/boards/infertility/527712-natural-conception-after-failed-ivf-2.html

Apparently if you have any autoimmune conditions (like raised antibodies) our bodies may sometimes not recognize the fertilized egg and may consider it a foreign object and taking benadryl may help prevent our bodies from rejecting the egg! It apparently reduces inflammation and calms body down?

It is recommended to begin taking the benadryl 4DPO

But there are different types of Benadryl (Cetirizine or Acrivastine or Pseudoephedrine or Diphenhydramine)

Has anyone ever taken Benadryl to aid implantation?

Which one (active ingredient did you take)?

Thoughts?

Hi,

Congrats snoopy, fab news!

I got a BFP, damn that was quick, 1st month on pred - although I got a BFN at day 10 after ovulation so stopped the pred, but got suspicious tonight and retested and bam. So prog tonight, back on pred from tomorrow and hopefully 2 days off won't affect anything.

I don't suppose anyone knows which Saturdays the Epsom Dr S clinic is open? It say alternative ones on the website but doesn't say which dates. DH unhelpfully about to start 6 months of night shifts and will only be off every other Saturday and I need Saturday appts as I work in a school and can't just get week days off. I'll call them tomorrow to book intralipids but it would be helpful to know in advance which dates they'll offer me.

YompingJo · 14/09/2016 19:36

FGS. Ignore message to Snoopy - I was on page 1 of thread. Head like a space cadet right now.

PJ12 · 15/09/2016 21:00

Oh wow, congratulations Jo! Great news! Not sure what days the clinic is open, sorry. How are you feeling?
User I haven't heard anything about Benadryl.
Rosa I love dairy and eat quite a bit of gluten Wink. Did you have an intolerance to it? I ate it all throughout my pregnancy and never had any issues with it.

YompingJo · 16/09/2016 05:43

I spoke to them yesterday and got early appts booked in. They don't have any Saturday clinics until end of October due to conferences so I had to book work days. My head of school is being incredibly supportive.

Physically I'm feeling ok, waiting for the steroid insomnia to kick back in. Emotionally... messy. I don't trust anything to do with my body and pregnancy after so many mcs. Hard to even begin to hope this time might be different, and anyway hope is a killer for me, I generally just try not to. Just have to accept that the next few weeks will be an extremely anxious time, and roll with that as best I can, be kind to myself, let myself feel my feelings, and accept that I'm doing all I can to influence the outcome and the rest is down to biology. Which is all easier said than done!

Seekingmiracles · 16/09/2016 08:35

Congratulations Yomping! Fabulous news, wishing you all the best. The next few weeks will probably be terrifying at times but trust that, as you say, you are doing everything you can to help your body do what it needs to do. One day at a time...

PJ12- it might be that your immune profile is different now to how it was during your successful pregnancy and over 70% of your immune system is located in your digestive system / gut - so makes sense to keep a close eye on things that can cause a reaction - dairy and gluten are most common culprits .. But it's not the same as an allergy and intolerances can come and go and be of different degrees.. And of course only one factor. I'm no expert, but I read a lot at the time and listened to lots of experts from different fields, and just decided it was worth ruling out the possibility it might cause more of a flare in the critical 1st trimester. Skin conditions like psoriasis are also autoimmune and interestingly mine have come back since I started eating more bread and cheese.

Yomping - congratulations !! I know you'll be containing your excitement .. But as Seeking says, just take each day at a time .. Keep smiling, drinking water and relaxing as much as possible x

PJ12 · 16/09/2016 12:51

Yomping wishing you all the luck in the world. I have everything crossed for you. I can only imagine how anxious you are feeling. Try and stay relaxed as much as possible (I know it's easier said than done) and take it one day at a time.
Rosa did you only cut out gluten and dairy in the first trimester or whilst you were ttc as well? I've never had any allergies or psoriasis etc....but I think I will give it a go. It doesn't hurt and hopefully it will help.

Drttc · 16/09/2016 15:25

Congratulations Yomping! Wishing you as much peace and patience as is possible during this 1st trimester! We all know how stressful it can be.

PJ - I've also been gluten free as part of my own lifestyle changes. I did it because my gluten is inflammatory and believe it has helped calm my really aggressive immune system. I've been completely gluten free since a few months before conceiving my son and have remained so postpartum. It's actually so easy. In theory bread and cake shouldn't really be that big a part of our daily diet- but it is in mine haha. I buy loads of yummy GF breads, biscuits, pastas you name it. And restaurants are becoming so GF friendly I never have an issue.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 17/09/2016 19:14

Congratulations jo! All my fingers and toes crossed for you Smile I did wonder what I had done, it was my birthday yesterday haha Grin

PJ12 · 20/09/2016 10:39

Thanks ladies. I think I will also go down the GF/DF route. As you all said, it should be fairly easy to do that these days. I've been in Menorca for the past week fully indulging myself but we go home tomorrow and it's time to start the diet. I'm also on my second day of steroids and so far have been feeling fine.
How are you feeling Yomping?

YompingJo · 22/09/2016 19:25

I'm feeling fine. Confusingly so, really. The first 10 days of pred made me wired and affected my sleep but then I had a 2 day break as my first test was negative, and since I've been back on them my body seems to have just got used to them Ann's I'm sleeping ok. Progesterone usually makes me feel sick but that doesn't seem to be happening this time, which is a bit random and quite odd. Had my first intralipids on Tuesday, which was fine too. What's going on???

Seekingmiracles · 22/09/2016 22:41

Yomping - I felt absolutely fine too, no side effects or feeling unwell at all, so don't worry. Just take things day by day. Have you got a scan booked in?

Waitingforamiracle · 23/09/2016 23:07

Hi everyone, I've used these forums to get me through some dark times over the last few years and thought it was time I contribute. Myself and my husband have been TTC for over 4 years and unfortunately have now had 5 miscarriages.

We wasted a year getting tested on the NHS after miscarriage 3 and were told everything was fine; we had just been unlucky. Miscarriage 4 was difficult, but it was then we decided to see Dr S. I was diagnosed with high and aggressive NK cells. After 3 cycles, we fell pregnant. I felt so hopeful this time, but unfortunately when I travelled to Epsom last week to get my second transfusion of intralipids, the pregnancy was not the right size for my dates and there was no heartbeat. I am hoping it is just very bad luck. I was supposed to get a D&C so I could send it to be tested. However, I miscarried naturally before I could get the D&C. The hospital sent it to Be tested has anyone had any experience of a natural miscarriage and getting a result from Cytogenetics? Sorry for the lengthy message I'm new to all this!

PJ12 · 24/09/2016 21:52

I'm really sorry to hear about your miscarriage Waiting. Unfortunately I've never had any of my. Is carriages tested so I can't help you in that.

Hope you're still feeling ok Yomping. As other people have mentioned I think pred masks a lot of the symptoms so try not too worry too much.

I'm on day 6 of pred and I think I'm starting to feel some side effects. Was up at 5am this morning Angry. I've also been having stomach cramps on and off for the past 3 days (funnily they coincide with the day I went GF/DF). Do you think it's due to pred or the diet change? For those of you that went dairy free - did completely cut out dairy or just the major culprits (milk, yogurt, cheese etc). I'm finding it a bit hard to find both GF and DF meals (especially when I'm out).
Only 4 more days of pred....I'm looking forward to having a break from them.

Seekingmiracles · 24/09/2016 23:33

Sorry for your losses waiting, it's brutal. I've had mine tested and only after an erpc but did the test privately before through DrS. I think it can take quite a while with the NHS - was 5/6 weeks privately.

Pj - I would air on the side of caution with DF , it's well documented that women should eat some full fat dairy whilst trying to conceive to help with egg health. I know it's all so contradictory, hard to know what to do for the best!
GF is known to help reduce inflammation so for people with immune issues it could potentially help, not sure on the link between DF and Immune though. If you're finding it difficult to do both maybe just to GF.

YompingJo · 25/09/2016 07:31

waiting, so very sorry, that must have been devastating. It feels like having tests and finding out issues and having treatment should give you some sort of guarantee, at least I know it's feeling a bit like that for me. And that just makes it harder to bear if it doesn't work out. I hope you get answers, I guess if it was genetically unviable then that helps.

PJ12 the pred early waking is a killer, I was awake any time from 3:30 for a good few days but it seems to have settled now. I hope yours gets better too. I had some very productive mornings for a while! Still feeling ok but finding it harder to stay positive. I'm determined to approach this time with a PMA and gallons of self belief but it's hard to combine that with accepting the reality that this is not a magic cure and this can still go wrong. A CB digi put me at 3+ weeks since conception this morning which is reassuring because it will be around 20 days and I'm pretty sure they have measured a bit behind for me in the past.

PJ12 · 25/09/2016 08:38

Seeking it's exactly what I wanted to hear...haha...I love milk and cheese so the last few days have been really hard. I think I can do GF but I was finding GF and DF at the same time very difficult. I think I will just cut down on my dairy consumption.
Yomping yay for the 3+ on the CB digi Grin. Do you have scan booked? When do you see Mr S next?

casiopeia · 25/09/2016 10:03

waiting I am so very sorry, it's a rubbish time and horrible to go through it so many times :( I had two of mine tested after procedures but I have a friend whose testing was after a spontaeous mc and they did get a result, one of the trisomies was found. I do believe there is a good chance to get an answer. Re the nhs hospital, was it a local hospital or private? Both mine were on nhs and results within exactly 6 weeks, so I was either lucky or it is the standard waiting time, but I wouldn't stress about it.

How are you recovering physically? Hope you are resting and not hurting much. Have you weaned off the prednisolone yet?

yomping great news re CB digi :)

seeking all the best, not long to go now, hope all is well

tumtimes thanks, yes, we had the best outcome out of possible result. Hope to see you back here soon and hear your amazing news :)

YompingJo · 25/09/2016 11:03

PJ12 My next trip to Epsom is a week on Thursday, which feels like months away. That will be for a scan and I will be 6.5wks. Then 15 days after that, which is the big one, the one where I usually get bad news. It's on my little girl's birthday so I'm hoping extra hard that things are going to be looking good.

PJ12 · 26/09/2016 14:45

I'm crossing all my fingers and toes for you Yomping. Those first few weeks are the most anxious and stress ridden. I'm like you, where my miscarriages happen between 8-9 weeks. Stay positive Flowers. I'm testing on Thursday but I don't know if I will see anything? I've never tested so early. I hate testing early as it makes the wait even longer so I normally wait till I miss my period and by then I usually get a bit of nausea so I know that I'm pregnant even before testing. We shall wait and see...

Waitingforamiracle · 29/09/2016 11:27

Thanks PJ12, Yomping, Seeking and Casiopeia. Physically I'm fine, weaning off the Prednisolone just now. Down to 10mg. Casiopeia thanks for letting me know about your friend; it's reassuring. It was just my local NHS hospital and they said I should have results in 4 weeks. Quite quick for the NHS I thought! Really hope they find something and it's not inconclusive!

PJ12 are you still DF? Hope you are feeling better.

Congrats Yomping! Wishing you well for your trip to Epsom.

PJ12 · 30/09/2016 16:00

I couldn't do DF and GF at the same time Waiting. It was too hard. I am sticking to gluten free though.
I stopped the pred on Wed (that was 10 DPO and pregnancy test was negative) but I've been feeling very nauseous today. I did a test but it was negative. Is this a side effect of the pred? It feels like early pregnancy nausea but it should have shown up on the test by now, right? (period due this weekend)? So confusing Confused

Waitingforamiracle · 30/09/2016 16:21

Sounds wise PJ! What test did you take? I've always used Clearblue early detection; they can be used up to 6 days early, but I usually use them 4 days early as they are over 90% accurate then. I never experienced nausea on pred but everyone is different. If you feel you are pregnant, I'd definitely recommend a sensitive test, better to be sure!

PJ12 · 30/09/2016 17:37

Thanks Waiting. I used a FRER and they're supposed to super sensitive. I've never tested early before so I don't know when I actually get a positive pregnancy test (I used to just wait for a missed period band by then I'd feel nauseous so would pretty much know I was pregnant before testing). I do feel very tired today but that is most likely a side effect to coming off pred. I guess I will know this weekend.

How are you feeling Waiting?
