should I really still be taking pro natal vitamins?

as some know we've been ttc for 21 months now. Dh was diagnosed with low sperm count in July/august of last year, so effectively I have resigned myself to the fact it's not going to happen.

Although I'm not using contraception, I've pretty much not been thinking about ttc (apart from the false bfp I had a couple of months ago), and have also stopped taking my pro natal vitamins.

Although I know there's virtually no chance of getting pregnant, should I keep taking them just in case?

Either take them or just folic acid

TBH, I always felt like taking them was arrogance in assuming I would fall pregnant if that makes any sense at all? I took them sporadically and then both times I've had BFP's I have taken them religiously.

I guess part of it is the taking of "pro natal" vitamina, it kinda indicates that I might get pregnant? whereas I know I'm not going to iyswim?

I think just take folic acid every day, just to keep up with the habit.

Have you written on falling pg then?? I know that it annoys people when I am positive and upbeat ( I annoy myself too!), but you really don't know what life will throw at you next. If there is a 'chance' you might fall pg, then you might. So I say just keep taking the folic acid, cos it can't hurt.

Fingers crossed for you.

written off

makes no sense how I wrote it

a good quality multi vit is more or less the same thing. That with a good diet would ensure enought folic acid. The pre natal vits exclude vit A but it would not cause a problem if just taken at the start. I know what you mean cos when i was 'sort of but not really' trying for ds i couldn't quite bring myself to take the pre natals but i was extra conscientious about my regular vits.

ready yes I have given up any hope of falling pg really. Dh has been diagnosed with low sperm count, I got him some vitamins or other to try and improve things but he reacted badly to them so that idea is out of the window. tbh I don't think it's just a case of taking a vitamin to improve his count - when we were ttc for ds dh was told his count might be low, but we fell pg that month so never found out how low iyswim.

after 16 months of ttc he had the diagnosis and after simptom spotting every month, even after a missed period where a gp told me I was pregnant despite neg tests and i turned out not to be, I decided to put it behind me and try to move on with my life. It's not going to happen and that's all there is to it really. I was actually going to go back on the pill so as to draw a line under it for good but couldn't quite bring myself to do that, but I'm 99% sure it won't happen.

Wannabe, I'm sorry to hear that. Don't go back on the pill please. I know it isn't my place to say this, and it's incredibly rude of me... but don't. A couple that I know were trying for a baby for years, and nothing, and they had 3 shots at IVF, still nothing (well, lots of heartache) and then when they had completely written off having a baby and decided to get on with their lives... they conceived naturally. Everyone was stunned as he was in his 40s and she almost 40. What they went through has always kept me optimistic about conception. When it seems all is lost nature can surprise us!!

Enough of my waffle, again I realise I am probably out of line... but I'd keep on taking folic acid everyday (I think I read it is good for the skin?!) and please don't go back on the pill.

Oh, and are there any natural foods that can increase sperm counts??

I wish you all the best, and hope that when you least expect it, baby number 2 decides to make an appearance
