Opk help

Hi all, just a bit of advice please. It's my first month using opks as until 2 months ago I wasn't ovulating.

I had positives on sat and sun, negative today, does that mean I'm liking to have o'd today or yesterday?

(I'm not temping so can't go by that)

Test was darker on sat that sun btw. Still a line though.

I know I've not been a regular on here for a while (had to take a break for my sanity) but was hoping there'd be some people able to help on this one?

When you say the test was darker but still a line, was Saturday's line definitely darker (or as dark) as the control line?

Assuming it was positive on Saturday (and you don't say what time you first got a positive) you can ovulate anywhere between 12 and 72 hours afterwards. So if your surge began at 9am on Saturday morning but you only test once a day at 9pm, it is possible to ovulate when you see the first positive. That said, I think most people typically ovulate 24 to 48 hours afterwards. I don't temp but I do get horrific ovulation pains and know that last time I was much closer to 72 hours than anything else.

I would always recommend dtd every day for three or four days after a positive opk (and try to beforehand as well if you start to build a consistent picture of when you will ovulate). Don't forget though, an opk just tells you about your surge and that doesn't mean you will definitely ovulate just because you have a positive test.

If your body is like mine, I would guess ovulation is today but everyone is different.

Thank you, sat and sun tests were both about 9am. Didn't test through the day but maybe I should have. Like I say, I've only ovulated on the previous 2 cycles (having day 21 tests as I'm on clomid) so I'm expecting I will ovulate but just want to time dtd as accurately as possible plus possibly ask dr's if I need to push my bloods back a few days as today is cd17.
Wished I'd have woken up earlier to dtd this morning now. Will just have to wait till later! (DH had to leave early for work)

I am not sure but is clomid a medication that can cause false positive OPKs? I think it is what a friend with PCOS used when she was told she couldn't rely on OPKs.

I had been told the same hence only using it for the first time this month; but on investigating, it seems I only interferes with results in the 3 days after your last tablet. After that it should be fine. This timing makes sense to when I think I ovulated last month also.

My friend who took clomid now has two children and both times she got pregnant on her second month. Fingers crossed for you.
