I'm not quite sure who but I think one of the Brooker's DM made 2 pinafores for her DD. These have been passed from Brooker to Brooker whenever a new girl is born.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 03/08/2016 07:14

Looks Lovely imps

My yarn arrived yesterday for my next blanket :o but they sent me the wrong green Sad I ordered Spring Green and they sent me Bright Green. It doesn't really show in the photo but its very bright. I've emailed them so hopefully they will send the right stuff straight away and not make me send the wrong one back first. Next time I'll order from England

Aaaah the complete and utter joy of getting a yarn delivery!! There's nothing more exciting on earth.

If you want to do some very warm and snuggly winter stuff, I heartily recommend Drops Air. It's completely gorgeous - so soft, lightweight and snuggly and no scratchiness at all as you can get with some wool yarns - I made another hat using it last night. It's an Aran weight, so you'll need a size 5+ hook. Oddly, the lady I bought it from said that you couldn't crochet with it, you could only use it for knitting. I didn't have any problems with it at all though.

Who's got the next antenatal appt then? I have my 28 week MW appt on Thurs. Hopefully they will have the results of my glucose test back and all will be well.

Oh and my bump seems to have grown massively overnight. Just caught my reflection and couldn't believe how big it is!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 03/08/2016 09:13

I had an appointment last week, so its Another 3 weeks until my next one.

Your hats look much more rounded than mine imps Mine seem to look like a flat crochet circle with sides - you could stand them the wrong way up and use them as a basket!

I just got a reply about the wrong wool, they will send out the right one today, they even offered to deliver it this evening Shock but I said I could wait for the post (plus they might decide its cheaper for me to keep the wrong one than pay the postage back!!) My faith has been restored and I will probably use them again!

Imps9 · 03/08/2016 09:25

Multi-purpose hats Beedles - a great idea!

Hurrah re: replacement wool! Glad the company understand the urgency of having the right yarn in place to start a new project. Which pattern will you be doing?

OP posts:
BeedlesPineNeedles · 03/08/2016 10:04

this one but I need to finish the Little cardigan I'm working on first

Imps9 · 03/08/2016 14:58

Finishing a project before starting on a new one?? An interesting idea! I'm terrible for having about 50 things on the go all at once.

My stomach is so hairy at the moment. Had no idea that a furry stomach was part of pregnancy!

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 03/08/2016 20:32

I don't have the 31 week one so it's nothing for 3 weeks (34 weeks) for me

Hairy tummy imps? There's no end of joy, hey! I just tried tidying my bits, but can't actually see them so gave up Grin on the plus side I'm pretty horny (if totally exhausted) and do doesn't seem to mind the straggliness!

Why did you have the gtt imps? I didn't have it

Imps9 · 03/08/2016 20:36

Didn't you Keep? I think it's standard for everyone here - it's printed in our notes as a routine thing and they didn't say that there was a special reason I was having it.

I was wondering what to do about my ladygarden. I don't really fancy letting it, erm, go to lawn, but visibility is an issue. Maybe I'll try some Veet or something. Might smother it on my belly too, while I'm there.

Oh right, here it's only done if you're high risk, bmi, possibly age. Am sure you're fine! I had my anti d at 28 weeks too as rh-. Hope you get to hear bb again too

I keep admiring/marvelling at my bump in windows etc, I must look so vain!

Imps9 · 03/08/2016 21:49

I didn't get to hear B-B last time because the midwife I saw actually complied with the silly new policy which says that MWs aren't allowed to listen to the heartbeat :( Hopefully I will have the lovely Scottish MW who I had at my first "proper" appointment who told me that she was ignoring the policy because it's nice to listen to the HB!

Maybe you should share your vanity here with an up-to-date selfie??

BeedlesPineNeedles · 04/08/2016 07:12

Cardigan near enough finished (i'll take a pic tonight/tomorrow) so I can start on the blanket over the weekend :o

I've got rather a good razor with an extra bit on it so it just trims hairs to about 1cm or so rather than shaving them off completely. also far less danger of cutting myself so I don't really need to be able to see what I doing. But seeing as how we have only dtd once since february its not really a problem!

No GTT for me (as far as I know anyway), also no silly rules about not listening to the hb

I've also been admiring my bump in mirrors and windows, so I thought you could too!

Imps9 · 04/08/2016 11:36

Oooh yes make sure you post a photo of the cardi. I've made yet another hat. I think I've got a problem.

Lovely bumpie (does anyone else read that as "bum pie" sometimes?) Beedles! Hope you getting loads of lovely compliments about it.

All good at 28 week appt. Bloods great (iron, glucose etc), blood pressure great, bump is 29 cm (apparently 2cm either side of the number of weeks you are is fine). Here's my latest bumpie - it feels like a whopper already - and it must look like it too given all the "jokes" I get about how it's going to be a big baby/am I sure there's only one in there?

Oops pressed send too soon.

Keep I asked the MW about sleeping on your back and she said it's absolutely fine. It's only in the last couple of weeks that it may be bad, but even then you will feel dizzy and unwell way before any harm can come to the baby.

Working from home for the rest of the day and irritatingly I'm really busy. It's all well and good having paid time off work to attend antenatal appts, but that doesn't stop the work from being there. Oh well, day off tomorrow so at least I can crochet more hats chill out a bit then.

Just noticed that that photo makes it look like I've got no legs. I can assure you that I do have legs - I was just wearing v pale trousers against a white background!

OP posts:
Imps9 · 04/08/2016 12:04

Oh, and it may be too much information, but I think I went a little bit overboard with the Veet this morning - am now as bald as a coot down there. Wasn't really aiming for the porn star / pre-pubescent girl look, but there were are.

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 04/08/2016 12:49

I was wondering why you had no legs imps! What a lovely big bump, mine is about the same, I'll do a pic tonight. Congrats on all being well.

And beedle your bump is coming on nicely too

I'm so knackered in the evenings after work + toddler + exercise DVD I just go to bed

Suddenly had an 'oh crap we need to think about names' moment this morning

BeedlesPineNeedles · 04/08/2016 12:51

it also looks like you've got no arms either imps :o did you veet them away too! But a Lovely bum pie anyway!

I Think my bump is now big enough that I am getting congratulations from people who didn't know (and who would have been too scared of saying the wrong thing to comment earlier!)

I'm also having a day off tomorrow, just because I can!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 04/08/2016 12:55

we need to Think about:
when I'm starting and finishing ML, and how much PL MrB is going take (I need to hand in the form very soon)
buying a pram
buying a carseat
names - we haven't even discussed which surname the baby is going to have, let alone 1st name

keepitgoing · 04/08/2016 13:20

Nothing much then beedle! When do you have to tell work? I bet you get amazing m/l over there. I am prob taking 10 months and then dh the last 2 (thank goodness for breastfeeding or he'd have pushed for half! Grin )

BeedlesPineNeedles · 04/08/2016 13:40

at the latest 2 months Before ML starts, so I have 2 or 3 weeks to work it out if I finish at about 38 weeks. I'm thinking I'll have ML until august and then 4 weeks holiday and MrB can have PL/holiday from the beginining of July. So we get 2 months at home together next summer. But realistically babybeedle won't start nursery until January ( i Think they have to be a minimum of a year old), so I'm not sure what we'll do for Nov/Dec. Either MrB continues to be off, or we do 50/50, or I have Another couple of months ML. Or I could have longer in the first Place and he has Oct-Dec. So rather a lot to decide

But at the moment all we need to to decide is when my ML starts and finishes.

Imps9 · 04/08/2016 14:20

I think I'll take 12 months, although will go back to work for 4 weeks when B-B is around 8 months old so that Mr Imps can take 4 weeks as shared parental leave.

At the moment I'm actually really reluctant to go back to work after 12 months - I'd love to be a SAHM for a little while and then find a new career. But I'm not sure if it's fair to put all the pressure on Mr Imps to be sole earner in the family. We need to sit down and really talk it through.

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 04/08/2016 17:27

Ooh imps are you sure you're allowed to do that? I thought once you've gone back that's that. It's hard choices, what else do you see yourself doing? I'm sire mrimps would be happy to support you for a bit. But don't make too many plans, I know several people who've thought they'd want to SAH but haven't wanted to (at least not full time) after a bit. It's wonderful but hard work, monotonous and can be lonely at the same time

beedle I googled your m/l, wow that's amazing, I'd take long as you can but lovely idea to have both of you off for a couple of months. Can you not leave the end date open?

Imps9 · 04/08/2016 17:36

Yes am absolutely sure - shared parental leave is designed to be flexible to allow parents to take leave when they want it, in up to three separate chunks. I advise on stuff like that for a living! Deffo look into it to see if it might work for you and Mr K :)

Yes, I'm not making any plans yet and keeping options open. I have no idea what life with a baby will be like and the SAHM idea may go way out of the window once B-B has arrived! Deffo wouldn't hand my notice in or anything like that until I'm absolutely sure of our plans.
