I didn't realise you had to hold your wee for 4 hours loulabelle not sure I can imagine that haha! I pee all the time at work!!
I'm going to be on holiday at the start of next cycle so think I'll maybe leave the opks at home and just relax, enjoy holiday and lots of dtd! Definitely going to give opks a go the following cycle though!

Woohoo for ovulation and EWCM bobo!! Get on it!

Loulabelle1990 · 16/06/2016 12:16

Yay so happy for you BoBo! Congrats on the EWCM! The things that make us happy these day lol!

Yeah marmite your supposed to hold it in for 4 hours and also not drink loads so it doesn't dilute your wee too much! It's best to just see how you get on this cycle, I've been off the pill since December but last cycle was our first one properly trying and using OPK's. I am due to start testing tomorrow.

Where are you going on holiday? Jealous!

Pyjamas81 · 16/06/2016 18:59

I'm going to switch to the digi OPKs too - the cheap ones are easy, but can't be dealing with waiting until later in the day, not seeing for four hours and peeing in a cup at work!

Jjspoon · 16/06/2016 19:08

Has anyone been using the clear blue opks? I've heard mixed reviews about them not giving true results or days on end of smiley face which can't be right? I'm thinking I might start them next cycle but don't know whether to start which cheapy ones or just go straight for digital?

Congrats bobo I was the same this month lol.

Johno85 · 16/06/2016 19:51

Hey Jjspoon. I did a whole month of the cheap opk's and never got a positive.

First month of CB digital opk and I had 20 days of flashing smileys (this apparently isn't meant to happen!).

Wasn't going to bother last cycle but had sticks left over. Had 1 day low fertility. 2 days high and then peak!

How long/regular are your cycles? I think it can get pricey if you don't know when you should be testing. I just waited for ewcm for a few days first then tested.

Hope this helps and good luck Smile

Loulabelle1990 · 16/06/2016 21:07

I also use the CB ones and were worth every penny last cycle. I had 5 days high fertility then my peak. Everyone is different but I've heard of a lot of people having countless high days but the more the monitor gets to know you and your hormones the easier it should get to detect it xx

Artynic · 16/06/2016 21:59

Hey ladies. Can I join? 🤓
First day on the site so here's bit about me.
30 years old. Stopped taking pill in March ish after 10 years

Currently cd30 bfn today but no proper period jus 2 days of pale brown. Boobs are so sore and never normally have that symptom. Plus some nausea and sore gums. May just be searching for symptoms who knows? Basal temp is 36.77 although the that doesn't mean much to me either? Should I just accept I've missed the window?

Thanks ladies

Jjspoon · 16/06/2016 22:08

Thanks johno and loula sounds like it's worth a go then. I might give clear blue one a try next month. This is my first proper cycle so still getting to know what they'll be like. Last month was only 26 days between break through bleed after pill and first real af but think this cycle might be a bit longer as I'm on cd 16 and had ewcm yesterday and today. I'll see how this one goes then decide whether to give opks a try next month!

Jjspoon · 16/06/2016 22:30

Hi artynic and good luck :). What cycle are you on and how long are they usually? I'm only on cycle 1 so still learning about everything myself but have found these threads really useful.

Artynic · 16/06/2016 22:41

Hi jjspoon yeah it does seem really good to read all these threads an know you're not on your own in this. I'm only on 2nd cycle really so it's probably too early and I never got a positive ovulation test any time I tested so I guess I'm jus waiting on af to tell me I'm wrong. Good luck on your journey too xx

Johno85 · 17/06/2016 07:24

Hey artynjc- welcome to the thread. Lots of clever ladies on here to help. Smile

I didn't really count my post pill AF as it was only 23 days long and obviously chemically induced from stopping the pill. My next one was over 30 days and most have been it ill recently.

It's tricky to say whether or not you're out if you don't know if you ov and how many days post ovulation (dpo) you are. That's still a fairly high temp- are you doing basal body thermometer (bbt) every morning? Using any apps?

Fingers crossed (fx) for you X

Artynic · 17/06/2016 09:06

Hi johno thanks for the welcome! Yeah I know what you mean about post pill af. I was all over the place first month or so but since then seemed more regular around 28days. I'm doing basal temp with thermometer that came with a chart. I'm off the chart on that an doing it same time each night. I'm isinh ovia since March an that seems to think I could be pregnant an says to test tomorrow so I'm trying to hold out til then. Incredibly sore boobs last night that I just never have so much so I couldn't sleep. Then woke at 5 this morning hot sweats. Still no red period so I'm jus confused. Thanks for the luck. I know it's really early an I shouldn't get this hopeful it's jus all these signs are making me think it's possibleSmile

All best for your journey x

sarahhh1984 · 17/06/2016 10:12

Hi all,

New to this thread and to the whole baby thing actually! Smile

Due to take my last contraceptive pill tomorrow which will see me finish the pack and see me and my DH start trying for our first baby. We aren't going to get too technical about it at first with OPKs etc. Just going to see how it goes initially. Figure that - assuming it doesn't happen straight away - I'll want to monitor my cycle for a bit anyway before I start doing any of that. Just going to take the Seven Seas Trying For A Baby vitamins to a) see if it helps things along and b) help regulate my cycle as I've heard it's good for that.

This last week has been pretty hideous though. Keep getting cramps and feeling nauseous. Been on the pill for the last 14 years and I've only ever had cramps on the day my withdrawal bleed is due (always the Tuesday after my last pill). Think I've been reading up so much on conception and pregnancy that I've given myself symptoms! Confused

Anyway, looking forward to joining you all on this journey and fingers crossed I get my BFP sooner rather than later!

xx

Loulabelle1990 · 17/06/2016 13:25

Haha johno I like the fact your putting the abbreviations after everything, good idea!!

Welcome arty and Sarah!

Sounds promising arty, you'll have to let us know how you get on tomorrow when testing! I never used to get sore boobs before my period when I was on the pill, but when I come off it its one of my first signs she's going to show up! So my body has changed.

Good luck to you Sarah. Hope you aren't ttc for too long. That's what me and DH done, I came off the pill in December and thought of it happens it happens but it hasn't so far so started with the OPK's to try and help us along! Fx for you Smile xxx

sarahhh1984 · 17/06/2016 14:56

Thanks loula! Will probably wait to see if we have any luck straight away or, if not, wait a few months for my cycle to sort itself out and then start with thermometers, OPKs etc. then. For now I just want to let nature run its course. It came as enough of a surprise to my DH when I said I wanted to start trying. I think he'd pass out if he knew about all the peeing in pots that can come with it!

Fx the OPKs work out for you and you get a BFP soon! Smile xx

ClaireSunflower · 17/06/2016 18:42

Hi, welcome to the thread artynic and sarah! you are in good company here as we are all familiar with the craziness that is coming off the pill and ttc. I am on my third cycle after coming off at the end of March.

Got a positive opk today. Did and Internet cheapie this morning and got a very nearly positive and did and clear blue one at lunchtime which was a static smiley!. I was out for lunch with my work colleague and she asked me if I got lost on my way Blush Must have been doing a happy dance for too long lol.
DTD yesterday and 2 days before that so hopefully will be enough. Hubby will get jumped on later once more for good measure!

Pyjamas81 · 17/06/2016 18:51

Exciting re positive* opk Claire*!

First real AF lasted two days (fine by me ha ha) so now am ovulation symptom spotting - will use opks as have no idea how long cycle is!

Loulabelle1990 · 17/06/2016 18:58

It's best to use the Internet cheapies if you don't know how long your cycles are.

So happy for you Claire! Fx it works for you this month!

I started wit my CB opk today and it was negative, but I know I'm testing early as it says to start testing based on your shortest cycle. Hopefully I'll get flashy smilies and a static one next week!

Jjspoon · 18/06/2016 20:53

Anyone else more emotional since coming off the pill? I used to be quite emotionally stable and I was very good at not showing my emotions at least (even if something upset me I could hold it in). I'm a bit of an emotional wreck at the moment. I seem to be getting upset so much more easily and have actually cried a fair few times! I don't know if it my hormones still settling down or if something has changed and it's unrelated to the pill (such as having a more stressful time at work recently) but I'm not enjoying it one bit. 7 weeks off the pill now. God knows what I'll be like when actually pregnant but feel sorry for my OH already lol.

Jjspoon · 18/06/2016 21:01

I'm also getting spotty now... I was on the pill lucette for my skin and the dreaded spots are starting to return already over the last week or so :(. Hope I don't end up as bad as I was before changing to lucette a few years ago as it made me really upset and self conscious and it made a massive difference when I was on it. Never thought I'd still be struggling with acne at age 27.

MishyBakes · 18/06/2016 21:10

Jjspoon same with the acne and the strong emotions. I've wondered if I was like this before I went on the pill, but because it was so long ago, I forgot? Wish I knew the answer with the spots. I've used sudocreme, does anyone have any suggestions for good spot creams?

Jikkipug · 18/06/2016 21:22

UPDATE - Being as impatient as I am, I paid for a private ultrasound today thinking I was 5/6 weeks and you wouldn't see much.. Turns out I'm 8 weeks pregnant and saw the babies heartbeat! Which means I got pregnant 3 weeks after stopping the birth control pill I was on for 11 years!! All this time I was waiting for a period I was never going to get.. Good luck on all your BFP ladies, strange things do happen! X

Jjspoon · 18/06/2016 21:35

Yay jikkibug! Thanks for the update:) bet it was lush to see the little bab! Gives us hope it can happen so quickly!

mishy glad it's not just me. I haven't started using anything for the spots yet just my usual routine, be good to hear some recommendations. Everything I tried before didn't work for me unfortunately so really hoping it doesn't get bad and there are some new wonders on the market. The pill was the only thing that helped me before.

Loulabelle1990 · 18/06/2016 22:04

Oh I'm with you ladies and the spots! I used to have such clear skin and everyone would comment - now I'm getting more spots. Especially on my chin. Even DH said about it Blush. Loads of concealer!

Congrats again jikki, your were one of the lucky ones! Wish I'd got preg after 3 weeks!

MishyBakes · 18/06/2016 22:33

That's wonderful news jikkipug! Huge congrats, hope the pregnancy goes well Smile

Just out of interest, were you on the POP or COCP?
