Due date confusion!

Heya! Not sure if I'm in the right place! But any help would be so greatful! My period tracker says - Ovulation 15th Feb. I then had a "period" from the 29th Feb - 6th March... To my suprise I got my BFP 17th March! Was the bleed implantation? Or... Would I use the 29th Feb as the 'First day of last period to calculate?... confused

If you got a BFP on 17th March, then then your "period" from the 29th Feb to 6th March, was more likely a break-through bleed.

You can't use a period tracker to calculate due date they are notorious poor at estimating ovulation dates etc.

The LMP date the first day of your last period you should use when seeing doc's in the first day of bleeding prior to the 29th Feb. If your periods are irregular, then that date will probably be inaccurate but you will get a scan. The fact that you have had a bleed in early pregnancy they will probably want to scan you soon anyway.

Following this they will be able to estimate your gestation size and then they will give you a due date from your dating scan ( at around 12-14 weeks).

Heya! Thanks for your reply!! I have a appointment booked but couldn't see anyone until the 9th may :( so the bleed that started 29th Feb wouldn't be used as a reliable date to work out due date? Sorry I'm so confussed!! Didn't experience any of this with my 1st 😂 Xx

Was the bleed you had on 29th Feb different to what you normally have? I had implantation bleeding but it only lasted 2 days and was mostly mucus and brown blood

I would work on the bleed before this being your LMP and explain to the MW when you get there. It'll be corrected at your scan anyway

If the start of March was a "real" period then it seems too early to get a bfp on the 17th, so I would go with the previous bleed as your lmp. Like the others said, the dates will be corrected at the 12 week scan and it's better to be a bit too early for that than too late, if you see what I mean!

Mine doesn't sound like implantation, this lasted 7 days , :/ Jan period - 1st -4th.... Feb period .. 29th..6th March........ Positive test 17th March..... so I'm assuming it was a period,, didn't know if you could get a positive 11 days after your period that's why implantation crossed my mind! Thank god for mums net !! 🙈 xx

Hi, there is no way physically possible that I can see that if you had a real period starting on the 29th Feb, that you can get pregnant and have a positive test 11 days later.....

You can have a break-through bleed as I mentioned, while pregnant.

Therefore your LMP date is the 21st Jan, making you anywhere upto 13w1d pregnant. You cannot wait too much longer to get scanned, you may have ovulated later and may not be that far along, but with a positive test on the 17th March you are at least 9 weeks, but quite possibly further along than that.

I think you need to go back and explain that you are further along than you thought, and get seen as sooner, as you have clearly had bleeding during pregnancy...... Although bleeding in early pregnancy is common, the dating scan can only be done accurately during certain weeks, and you could well be in that time now.

Heya ladies, managed to see dr this morn. She said my lmp date would be 29th Feb ,, but to wait and see the midwife as she will send me for a dating scan but she said it's possible as my period was due around that date xx
