Confused about clearblue duel hormone opk

Hey ladies,
My AF is due in 2 days and pretty much think I'm out as had loads of 'symptoms' then nothing but a bloody cold the past few days so am moving onwards to next month. Just got some clear blue duel hormone opk and thought I'd give it a go today to just see how it works, and now it has given me a flashing smiley face. On the instructions it says this is high fertility does this mean I'm ovulating extremely late this month? (After af would be the first month I've used oaks so not sure when I last ovulated). Thanks for your help xx

Yeah I did yesterday with a IC and nothing. Read somewhere that LH surges can happen near AF don't suppose you know if this is true?x

Thankyou! Just done another one and it's gone from the flashing high smiley yesterday to the peak static smiley today. X

I'm not convinced there reliable. I use the dual hormone ones and I get no high smileys just peak at day 11/12 though I don't think I ovulate between 15-18. I have a 30-34 day cycle.

This is why I can't use opks. I hope you get a BFP soon because I can't think of another explanation!

Did an FRER this morning on cd28 and was negative. AF due tomorrow so it's just a waiting game now

It sounds to me as though you might have started using them at the wrong time.

My understanding is that you have to use them from around ten days into your cycle so it gets a base reading to start from and can properly predict your hormone levels... So if you use them after OV has occurred you won't get an accurate result.

(I don't know the ins and outs as to why but for example your progesterone levels on day 5 will be non existent, but on day 26 they'll be very high)
