Around 4dpo and a bfp?

Hi girls, just wondering what you all think of this? I'm about 4dpo although I can't say for certain as this is our first month TTC. I know the rules, you're supposed to wait 2 weeks before testing but as soon as I got into uni this morning everyone wanted to know if I was "up the duff" yet. (It's my final year so would be a lovely end to it) - on top of my struggling impatience I caved in knowing I wouldn't get a bfp so soon, how ridiculous! But something strange did happen..

I've had almost period like tummy aches for the last two days, but they could be completely unrelated and probably are, would just be interested in what you girls thought of these strange 3 lined tests?

4dpo is very early to get a bfp. I don't know if it's even possible?! I wonder if that's an evaporation line. The only way to know is leave it a few days and try testing again. My earliest bfp was 10 dpo and even then it was vvv faint. Good luck!

Are the photos taken within a few minutes of taking the test? If not then it's probably an evaporation line. implantation is what causes HCG to be produced and a positive test and that happens 6-10 days after ovulation so it's very unlikely to be a positive test unless you've got your ovulation dates wrong.

Are you really telling your course mates that you're ttc? You must be heading into the exam period - are you sure you want the extra pressure if other people's expectations right now?

BarbieMummy · 12/04/2016 23:38

Wow, slightly personal/judgemental but I'll answer your question anyway. Yes, I'm in the middle of writing my dissitation, and yes I have told my course mates that me and DH are TTC. No, it doesn't add to the pressure, infact quite the opposite. It means I can talk about something other than our finals and equally express my impatience towards getting the BFP. Thank you for your concern though, much appreciated.

Also, these are two different tests taken between a 5hr time frame, I understand how ovulation works and I'm pretty sure you're right, they're evaps, i was just checking for other opinions.

I would say it's invalid. The first pic has dye run so not accurate and you should never have three lines so that's invalid too.
Wait a week and try again! Good luck to you 😊 X

It's not possible to get a positive test at 4DPO as implantation won't have happened yet. So either you've miscalculated your dates or it's a negative test/evap line.

BertieBotts · 13/04/2016 10:43

I think the tests are faulty.

At 4dpo it would have to be picking up HCG from the previous cycle, because you wouldn't even be producing it yet. If you had a proper period last time, that's unlikely.

I'd try another test, maybe wait a few days.

BertieBotts · 13/04/2016 10:45

I also did a test at 4dpo this month BTW because my mum was visiting and it would have been lovely to tell her in person as we live overseas :) Of course, it was totally negative. Now I'm at 15dpo I have a little squinter of a line.

Hi guys, I am aware this thread is a few years old but I went to reply so women who have recently been googling the same questions as me to see this!

I tested at 4PO and got a very very faint positive so it is possible!!
Even if I got my ovulating dates mixed ( which I couldn’t of because I done an ovulation test every day) me and my DH didn’t DTD for a whole month prior to that so no way I could of conceived any earlier...
I’m now 5DPO and have a BFP with a tescos basic test, not even an early detection so unless it’s twins or a multiple pregancy 🥴
I got a faint positive with my son at 7DPO and a “pregnant” on a digital at 10DPO so very very early this time. I just hope everything goes well as I’ve also experienced “chemical pregnancies” 🤞🏼

Alli1990 · 25/01/2021 15:34

Hi Daveymummy,

how did you pregnancy developed? I also received a positve test result at 4 DPO and still positive 10 days later. But all this info that it should not be possible to test that early (chemical pregnancy) worries me a lot now Shock Would love to hear from your experienceFlowers

123JadeB · 09/08/2021 13:36

I also tested positive at 4 dpo. With my morning wee I used clear blue rapid test and done both tests, they both came back with plus sign but very very faint. I’m now waiting a few days to re test.
Good luck with your journeys x

ThatBlueBiscuit · 05/09/2024 00:36

I had a dark positive at 4dpo with DD - not even using fmu... Sounds crazy I know, but never retested as I just knew I was pregnant. I did have v high HCG tho and bad hyperemesis throughout the pregnancy...maybe that's why!
With #2 no symptoms whatsoever, negative test at 10dpo and vvvfl at 15dpo (2 days after af due)....turned out to be blighted ovum MMC sadly 😥 so maybe that's why the hcg wasn't progressing as it should have been.
Now not sure what to expect when TTC! 😳
