quick ques about AF and CM

my AF came on Sunday, an hour after waking and was dark red. Bright red Mon morning. Which should I class as day 1?
day 3,4,5 consisted of pinkish spotting mixed with mucus. didn't think anything of this except of days 4,5 and 6 there was a lot of egg white type mucus and very wet. surely signs of ovulation so early in cycle is wrong. my cycle varies between 26/28 occasionally 29 which is a little irregular but even so I usually ovualate around day 13/14. The 'wetness' has now stopped and its only day 7!
I have been told that I am peri-menopausal so am not as fertile as I once was. I am 38. I know its possible to ovulate early but didn't think it was a random thing.
anyone have any experience of fertile cm very early in cycle and did you go on to ovulate earlier than normal and have a shorter cycle.

I have a 25-26 day cycle am 38 and not peri-menopausal due to fsh and lh and estradiol bloodwork results to confirm but I start getting the clear fertile cm occasionally on day 7. I did an ovulation predictor kit for 7 months and 2 months I ovulated on day 9! I usually ov on day 11-12 though but it is possible you ov'd early yes, I would use an opk. How did you find out you were peri-menopausal and what were or are your symptoms?

wishing1 - when I was referred to fertility clinic the only thing '-ve' that came up was that my fsh levels were elevated, 14 at the time, have remained elevated although gradually been reducing but after a course of chlomid shot up to 20. has since come down again but because of these results the head of the clinic (who I'd never seen before) says that I am peri-menopausal (the 10 years or so before menopause starts) and my chances of conceiving are practicaly zero and that I am likely to reach menopause in my late 40's rather than my early fifties. I assume what he was saying that my fertiliy at 38 is that of a person in there early 40's.

My gp said I was likely to be peri-menopausal and also unlikely to be ovulating every month. From my own point of view I have no other syptoms and have post ovulation symptoms (sore breasts etc) which I beleive is caused by progeserone which only occurs after ovulation.

Basically although hospital written me off I have not and trying alternative methods to conceive naturally. If it doesn't happen at least I know I did my best

phew! sorry for going on bit there

Oh and apparently its not common for a 38 year old to be perimenopausal so its just bad luck on my part

fingers crossed, are you sure day 1 would have been sunday considering I didn't wake up with bright red, it was at least an hour later and was dark red. Usually get dark red in afternoon and always classed next day as day 1. Have I been getting it wrong all along?

Yep. Day one is the actual day that you first spot blood. Abolutely definate on that one.

PLus if your peri-menopausal ovulation will be erratic. you are right to keep an eye on you Eg white mucus.

sorry in advance for being so graphic but am totallyn confused and am now wondering if this could be an infection...

CM appeared to dry up 'to the touch' from day 7 but each time wipe get clear, stretchy mucus. Yesterday and today noticed cm was thick and creamy to the touch but when wiped it was clear and could stretch a few inches. seems too stretchy in consistency to be ewcm as it isn't wet.

Have no other symptoms of an infection, should I get it checked out anyway? have basically had this stretcy mucus since about day 4.
