Like they work when your period is due....but do they work if you are 9 weeks pregnant or 11 weeks?

there was a thread about this recently...and think they do work around the time you say

the hormone they pick up is HCG and can't remember if it is produced through the entire pregnancy or just the early weeks...sorry!

have you had a nice holiday?

will try to find the other thread

they detect HCG and

"HCG is detectable in the blood serum of approximately 5% of pregnant women by 8 days after conception, and in virtually all the rest by 11 days. HCG rises progressively from conception. Levels double on the average, every 30.9 hours until values reach 6500 mIU/ml (6,500 IU/L) at approximately the eighth week after the last menstrual period (LMP). After that the rate of rise becomes individualized, peaking between the 60th and 70th day (9 to 10 weeks) LMP. HCG decreases slightly between the 12th and 16th week post LMP, and then remains constant until birth. "

so i'd think they would still work.

Do I still have to do it first thing in the am?

not as essential if you are possibly a bit further along....but the concentration of hormones is higest in the first wee of the day

good link soupy, where did you find that info?

redtent · 05/01/2007 12:44

iirc my best results were always with 2MU (second Morning urine) Usually afetr not going to the loo for 2-3 hours.

Most tests are not as prescription about FMU (first...) as they used to be.. I think at 9 weeks you can test anytime of the day as the HCG is as soupy says at it's Peak.

A Gf on another board did apg test at 30+ weeks to see if it worked... and it did!!

Katymac · 05/01/2007 13:04

I'm feeling sick in the am
I have indegestion
My tummy is a bit bloated

my boobs are bigger

SoupDragon · 05/01/2007 13:43
