Hormone blood results... Someone help!

My husband and I decided to start trying for a baby in January. I then didn't have a period between January-March! I went to the doctor who said because I was worried she would run some blood tests to check my hormone levels.

Anyway, I got my results today and some levels are high. I darent Google because I have major health anxiety but she said most were normal but two were high and I need to see the doctor. The two high ones were serum prolactin and lshr something or another (I was stupidly in London with sirens when I called so couldn't quite catch the test names!)

Doctor booked a phone consult for Friday but I'm extremely worried!

Anyone have any idea what this is?!

Hi, sorry you are worrying. I think high prolactin levels are easy to treat so try not to worry.

Do you mean fsh? I haven't heard of lhsr but someone here may have.

Do you mind me asking how old you are?

I am 31. I saw the doctor this morning and she said I have high prolactin levels & borderline low estrogen levels. She asked me to repeat the test and then said she will have to refer me to an endocrinologist if the tests come back high again!

I'm freaking out!

Pleas try not to worry. Did you ask her about treatment for high levels? I had mine checked as I had other symptoms that made them think they could be high but they weren't. I did a lot of research whilst waiting for the results and I really don't think it was anything bad. Do you know what causes it? Sounds worse than it is.

I don't know anything about estrogen levels but hopefully someone will come along who does.

Please try not to worry yourself. I know it's easier said than done though. Medicine can fix a lot of things and it sounds like you have a really supportive doctor which is great.

Did you find out what the levels were?

I have had high prolactin levels for the last 9 years.

Initially very high (over 1000) but they now are about 500 (funny enough I had the test done last week which is what prompted me to reply)

I have had two children since having these levels and no medication.

I have had a brain scan, there is no pit tumour (although I do have another unrelated cyst in the brain which is what they were looking at)

I have another MRI on friday (first contrast scan) which should pick up any hiding pit problems.

Stress can make it high, as can early morning blood tests and basically just rushing to the docs, hence the repeat in four weeks.

Either way, it CAN be treated.

High prolactin is easily treated. Once that's sorted, your estrogen levels will probably sort themselves out. I know it feels impossible, but try to not worry. And keep avoiding Dr Google.

Hello, just to let you know that my results were normal after my repeat blood test. Apparently this is very common because stress and other hormones fluctuating can affect it.
