Ok, so I am really struggling with the OPKs...

I've been using Clear Blue because it gives me a really clear definitive answer.

So on Saturday I got my first smiley face, which was (according to my Ovia App) cycle day 16. We DTD that evening and then on Sunday I got another smiley face. DH worked on Sunday, so we were going to DTD again when he got home, but he wasn't well at all so we couldn't. Have tested again today and there's no smiley face.

I'm assuming that means my window has gone? Confusion is, I recorded everything on Ovia and it still says I am still fertile on the app and gives it a rating of 7.5. So am I still in a fertile window?? Sooooo confused!!!!!

You generally ovulate between 12 and 72 hours after your get your first positive opk (although I think 24 to 36 hours is the norm) and then the egg lives for up to 24 hours. This means you can still be fertile for a up to four days after your first positive. With my last pregnancy I used the Clearblue OPKs which showed peaks days on a Thursday and Friday, and my 12 week scan said I ovulated on the Saturday.

A bit advice though is that apps often base things on averages so try not to rely them. Likewise, OPKs will only tell you when you are having your lh surge and do not confirm that you actually ovulate.

It took us around 9 months to fall pregnant without tracking anything. I had a missed miscarriage at Christmas and the thought of trying for another 9 months was really disheartening so we thought we'd up our chances, but I'm just not clued up on it all and for some reason find it really confusing!!
