Hi

I had 2 miscarriages (both at 5 weeks) so the doctor has been doing various fertility tests...

One of the tests is for blood clotting (anticardiolipin antibodies) as this causes miscarriages.

My result was '16' which is marginally over the range.

They like it to be under '10' so doing another blood test. Measured in MPL U/ml

Has anyone else done the blood test for clotting?

Was was your result and what treatment did you have going forward?

Hi lemon, anticardiolipin antibodies basically mean your blood clots very easily, it's normally associated with lupus anticoagulant. It's treated using anti clotting drugs such as warfarin. They'll put you on these asap before you conceive and up the dose during pregnancy. It's pretty simple to treat effectively.
During pregnancy you'll have a lot more monitoring and blood tests often to make sure your bloods are at the right level.
Sorry for your losses it's really hard but at least the blood markers point out something that is quite easy to treat.

Hope this helps Smile

V sorry about your mcs.

Suggest professor lesley regan's (St Mary's miscarriage clinic in London) book on miscarriage, which has lots of information on this, including treatment options. She emphasises the importance of doing testing very well because there can be false negatives if not done within a certain time, in the right way etc.

Hi lovely,

I know this thread was posted this a veeery long time ago but I'm wondering if you're still active? I'm so sorry to hear about your recurrent miscarriages, absolutely heartbreaking. I really hope everything has been going well for you since 🙏🏼

Im in a similar position, having recently been diagnosed with APS (sort of.. I've had one blood test result 18 and they've said we can use inhixa on our next IVF round rather than wait for 3 months for the 2nd test) after 2 IVF miscarriages, both at 5 weeks. I'm trying to find some information on people's experiences as I'm beginning to think it won't happen for us 😔 we're also awaiting chromosome results.

How are you and have you been since had a successful pregnancy?

Any advice would be so appreciated!

Thank you xx
