Ps Imps I'm not on the list yet, only 2 dpo and no symptoms yet lol

Imps9 · 23/02/2016 14:11

I read somewhere recently Keep that medically speaking a biochemical pregnancy is the period of pregnancy before you can see a viable pregnancy (heartbeat presumably?) by way of ultrasound. Once a HB(?) has been seen then the pregnancy becomes a clinical pregnancy rather than a biochemical pregnancy so I would assume a loss after that stage would be called a miscarriage. So potentially if I miscarry now, medically speaking this would be a biochemical pregnancy as it's too soon to see anything on screen.

I think for us plebs though a chemical pregnancy is one where the BFP only lasts a couple of days before disappearing again. Probably doesn't reflect medical parlance/definitions though.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 23/02/2016 14:21

yes imps my drs say the same - according to them Everything Before 7 weeks is a chem. preg not a miscarriage. But I also think of it the way you do, a chem. preg is when it goes wrong within a few Days of when AF is due.

cartoontrickster · 23/02/2016 14:38

Interesting. I always thought it was a postive test them the arrival of af soon after.
Wow anything before 7 wks beedle!
So a blighted ovum then is a chem??

cartoontrickster · 23/02/2016 14:40

Surely they can see the sak and or foetal pole be for the heatbeat would kick in? So there for the fact that something is visible means you are pregnant and a loss is a miscarriage, in my logic anyway.

Imps9 · 24/02/2016 07:20

Morning lovelies Brew

So this morning's peestick experiment has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that HCG invalidates eggsticks. In the photo the test line is the dark line on the left, the control line is the pale line on the right.

I've not quite figured out how the face of science will be changed in light of these results, but I'm confident that it will be.

The one where we all get and stay diffed, and we're brooking no argument about it
Imps9 · 24/02/2016 07:24

Although thinking about it, is that how dark control lines normally are?

I'm doubting my scientific discovery now.

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 24/02/2016 07:27

You'd have to put them side by side Imps to confirm your findings lol. But that's a dammed fine dark line you have there!

So do you have a scan booked yet? Am so willing this one on for you!

keepitgoing · 24/02/2016 08:09

Have you run out of normal tests?
Yes, book a scan! Will it be with BH?

I think it's odd to call 6 weeks a chem preg_ you can see the HB by then. I think hfea class a clinical pregnancy as soon as HB seen, don't they? I suppose it's all just words, either way it's horrible

Imps9 · 24/02/2016 08:55

I think that any loss before you see a HB is a chem - once there is a heartbeat it becomes a miscarriage, so it will be different timings for everyone. That's my understanding of the medical/clinical definition - but I think the "normal" view of miscarriage is that any loss after a proper BFP is one.

Definitely not run out of normal peesticks Keep - what do you take me for?!? Just fancied peeing on a couple of extra peesticks today.

I won't book a scan yet. If I haven't started bleeding by the end of next week I will self-refer to the EPU for a 7 week scan.

How is everyone today? Any sickness Keep? More cramps Pasta and Beedles?

BeedlesPineNeedles · 24/02/2016 09:10

oh what Lovely lines imps

Not much to report here, slightly sore boobs.

what is interesting is I got a fitbit with heart rate monitor in January, there was a clear spike in my resting heart rate from bfp until I started bleeding. its hard to say if this was because I was feeling stressed or if it was due to me being diffed. It also appears that I get a slight spike when I ovulate. So it will be interesting what happens over the next week

keepitgoing · 24/02/2016 09:14

OP posts:
Imps9 · 24/02/2016 09:28

That's annoying - does this mean they can't book your dating scan until next week?

BeedlesPineNeedles · 24/02/2016 09:29

but if if can see it in black and White how badly you're sleeping he might let you have more lie-ins (I'm sure he's Lovely already!)

OP posts:
Imps9 · 24/02/2016 09:35

What's your heart rate today Beedles?

BeedlesPineNeedles · 24/02/2016 09:54

I won't know until I sync it with my table when I get home, my phone isn't smart enough! Its usually 65/66, but I wouldn't expect to see any Changes for Another day or two. I will let you know :o

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 24/02/2016 10:08

I get lots of lie ins... Just waking up to wee x3 a night!
Yes but the team said she won't be all booked up (...) And I only need it done by 10 weeks. Referral for scan has gone off to the Hosp. This shit got real

Yes, any increase yet beedle?

Loopyaboutmy2boys · 24/02/2016 23:25

Lay in bed, can't nod off, feeling swollen/bloated/heavy/crampy...and I've just been to the loo so it's not my bladder doing it...only 3 dpo

BeedlesPineNeedles · 25/02/2016 06:30

hope you managed to get some sleep loopy I can assure you that I didn't feel like that at 3dpo but then my embryo was still in the freezer then! I hope this is the one for you.

keep good that the scan will be sorted without you needing to see the midwife first

resting heart rate was a steady 66bpm yesterday, boobs are a bit more sore but not too bad
