Hiya

Had to smile at your post- as part of my Christmas gift Dh agreed to give gettinga girl (we have 3 boys) one last shot in the autumn LOL!

I've read a few books on the subject, the nearest thing to a logical solution I have seen is the idea that if you have sex on the day of (or the day after) ovulation you're most likely to conceive a boy as the male sperm swim faster and the girls live longer iyswim. Then you're supposed to optimise your fertility for a boy: cool boxers for DH, selenium supplements and zinc (or brazil nuts and eggs), sex twice a week, cool showers not hot baths- that sort of thing.

FWIW I'll just be trying, hoping and loving whatever I get- I'm not convinced by any of these, although my 3 were conceived on day of ovulation

Nothing you eat will determine the gender of your child I am afraid!

I have read that the timing of intercourse can determine the gender, the boy sperm don't live as long as the girl sperm. But the boy sperm swims quicker.... so it follows that if you have sex on the day of ovulation the boy sperm will reach the egg before the girl sperm!!

I have to say that I can't wait to have a baby and it doesn't matter about the gender! I can see that you have lots of children and therefore see it differently, but I like Peachy's attitude "loving whatever I get"

Good luck!

I saw a prog on TV about this years ago.
Basically, sweet and milky for girls,
salty and sour for boys with v little dairy produce.

I am sure there is something in this as:
Conceived ds in month of March, after post- Christmas purge, mainly eating salads, veg and tuna to lose weight. Very little sweet or vdairy foods passed my lips.

Conceived dd after period of normal eating, and as have very sweet tooth, dd appeared!

I remember it was some doctor from Liverpool hospital or uni who had devised it.

Hmmm, I ahev 3 boys and am dairy intol- interesting........

sorry but that eating certain foods is a load of bollocks as it is the sperm that determines the sex of the child and has nothing to do with the woman.

Personally I think it's nonsense... unless all of the 281 couples had sex at the exact same times in relation to ovulation, and all the men's sperm counts were of equal quality, it's not an accurate study as many other factors affect the outcome not just the food ingested.

Sorry, if I sound like a damp squib

PeachysaysBlwyddynNewyddDda · 29/12/2006 20:32

yeah but its supposed to be something about vaginal mucosity being affected by diet, not the sperm, isn't it???

not convinced though.

this is the book everyone seems to go by though
