I'm new to all this and although we have decided to try for no.2, I've never actually 'tried' for a baby before (no.1 was a fluke!). I'm having a couple of months of not actively ttc cos I want to figure out my cycle without using a opk. I have a 26 day cycle (give or take 1 day) and I think I ovulate on day 13 (flustered, hot, clear runny discharge). Is there any other way of telling when I ovulate? Whats a leutal phase? Is mine too short? I want to keep everything fuss-free and natural and not use any kits but also want to give myself a good chance........... HELP!! explain it all to me!!

I'll be keeping an eye on this too as I'm in same situation as you and not got a clue either! I've only just found out today how to count my cycle!
I know when I'm ov as I get the pains & discharge but I bought some cheap ov test strips off ebay and kept getting a neg reading so am confused.
Anyway, good luck Ammy12

Thanks Poot! Feel a bit daft but really didn't want to get into testing with strips- I've heard that some readings are dodgy- imagine if you were using the rythym method! I know I will get obsessed and caught up with testing and want to stay calm and relaxed as poss. Good luck to you poot . Is this your first time ttc?

hiya ammy and pootle...its good that you know how long your cycle lengths are an have a rough idea of when you ovulate.

i use and ovatel microscope to tell when i am ovulating but i have been trying to 7 months now..its cheap and can be re-used and it fairly accurate.

a luteal phase is how many days between the day you ovulate and day of period, it needs to be atleast 10 days for implantation to happen.

i want to wish the the best of luck and my advice would be to as hard as it is do not obssess and get stressed out over it!!

My first was a lucky firsttry, but I am pretty sure it was my guess work that got us here.
We went for it when my discharge was stringy, I read, somewhere though where I don't know, thatthat was the time to go for it?
Seems to have worked for us DD is nearly 4 months.
Good luck thoug

weepootleflump · 28/12/2006 21:03

Hi Ammy, with dd it took 7 months ttc but we were in no hurry so didn't take much notice of the mechanics!

Second time I was using rhythm method not to conceive and did!

This time I really want to fall quickly (has only been 2 months so far ttc) but have a horrible feeling it's going to take forever.
How old is your no.1?

Ammy12 · 28/12/2006 21:23

My daughter is 3 and a half. My Lovely gorgeous partner is not her father but is her Daddy. I have a horrible feeling that because I want a baby with gorgeous partner, life will bite me on the bum and it won't happen............ ever the optimist! Hence trying not to pressure myself.
