I am testing 1 day early and not the 1st wee of the day.
I wasn't able to hold the tester in the urine stream for 5 secs (more like 2).
The results show a strong vertical line (for not pregnant) and a faint horizontal line (but definitely there).

Am I pregnant?

not sure pottypot - i think that may mean negative- sorry!

ledodgychristmasjumper · 27/12/2006 14:50

Do you mean the ones where the cross means positive and do you mean the faint line was across the vertical? if so and the faint line was the same colour i'd say that it was a positive result.

Fingerscrossed2007 · 27/12/2006 14:53

Not having enough urine on the stick will result in an inconclusive test. The presence of a faint line is a potential positive. Although the tempation to test again straight probabaly really stong all I can suggest is that you wait a couple and then retest. A practical way round getting enough urine on the stick (if you are worried about this happening again) is to collect some of your urine in a sample bottle/jam jar/"whatever else you have that is clean" and then stand the test stick in it. All test kits will have instructions on how long to do this for before you remove. Fingerscrossed for a BFP.

TurkeyTrotter · 27/12/2006 14:54

OH!! I thought they were + OR -

ledodgychristmasjumper · 27/12/2006 14:57

IIRC a vertical line means negative and a cross means positive in the same box iyswim so a faint line across the vertical if it was the same colour would suggest positive. I could be wrong though I last did one a couple fo years ago.

HonorMAGIpoeia · 27/12/2006 14:58

I had a similar result to yours when I first tested with DD, obviously (as she's now DD!) she was a positive. Think I left it for a couple of days - agonising! - and tested again, it was still faint so went to Dr's and their test was the only one that came up conclusively positive! Good luck

ledodgychristmasjumper · 27/12/2006 14:59

hang on i got that wrong a blue minus sign means not pregnant and a cross means pregnant.

pottypotpot · 27/12/2006 14:59

Sorry - I am mad.
It is a test that shows + or -. The vertical line of the + is faint (not the horizontal which I stated below).
Its just that I read somewhere that not having enough urine could give a false +

OP posts:
ledodgychristmasjumper · 27/12/2006 15:06

No it wouldn't giove you a false positive the vertical line can only be made to show if you have the pregnancy hormone in your urine as far as i am aware. Imho it's a faint positive and you are pregnant.

DarrellRivers · 27/12/2006 15:06

I reckon that is faintly positive (if the cross with the faint positive vertical line is in the first box, and there is just one line in the second(control box)

pottypotpot · 27/12/2006 15:10

Woohoo! (fingers crossed!)
I am going to test again tomorrow morning but got so excited which is why I tested as soon as I bought the pack!

pottypotpot · 01/01/2007 21:45

Plibble · 01/01/2007 21:46

Congratulations! What a lovely way to start the new year.

pottypotpot · 01/01/2007 21:51

Yes it really is a good start to the new year. Thank you.
But I am a paranoid type and keep thinking something is going to go wrong.
You know the feeling when something seems almost too good to be true?
I know its a natural anxiety but I wish I could just feel more assured.

babylove123 · 01/01/2007 21:59

Congrats to you! Try not to stress too much!

Plibble · 01/01/2007 22:00

Do not worry - just relax and enjoy!
Are you off to join the September ante-natal thread?

ledodgy · 01/01/2007 22:01

Congratulations.

pottypotpot · 01/01/2007 22:10

I know I should try to relax and enjoy but, honestly, my emotions are all over the place.
Thanks - am off to find the Sept ante natal.
Lots off luck to all of you trying!

Well, it looks like it was too good to be true.
I've had bleeding all day today - very red, fairly heavy (but no pains)
I'm pretty sure its an early mc as it feels like a normal period. I don't have any 'pregnancy' feelings anymore and boobs are no longer sore.

So, I'm going to join everyone here on the conception board to try again soon.
