Ttc - zika and holidays

Hi
My husband and I are thinking of ttc in the next couple of months - if we were to fall quickly I could be pregnant this summer. We have a holiday booked to Europe - will be hot. I'm guessing this is ok or is anyone else concerned that zika could spread to other countries by then?

Hi Elizabeth, if you google Zika virus Mao you'll see that previous outbreaks have only been in African and East Asian countries generally close to the equator. In Europe I don't think you'll have any worries as a) the current outbreak is in South America and b) the type of mosquitos (seeds) that carry the disease don't tend to live in Europe. So far Europe is clear of Zika transmission so not currently a risk but you should keep a close eye on travel advice as this could change. How quickly it could become a problem in Europe or if it even will is probably not known.
