No 1 happened 1st time lucky, she is now 8months old and still b/f. For the past 2 months we have been ttc No 2 - without any luck so far.

Haven't restarted periods yet. How do I tell if there's any chance of conceiving? As 1st time round we were so lucky, it's now starting to drive me mad.

Are there any recommended test kits that can be used to see if my body is 'back to normal' as it were?

Clear Blue do an ovulation test kit... could get expensive, as you have no idea when you will ovulate. My period returned when DS was 8 months, but am 2 weeks overdue next one... so it's quite hard to judge. I think, if you test every day, then one day it will tell you you're about to ovulate... but, as I say... that could get expensive. Good luck though! xXx

my AF came back when babies started going without a night feed. I think they were about 8 montsh and 11 months. I believe its going for a longer time eg 6-7 hours without a BF that triggers AF. If your baby wont go through the night you coudl give her/him a bottle - either EBM or formula. That woudl have the same effect i guess. Once your AF is back is will be easier to test for ovulating. I thinks its usual not to ovulate for your first one or two AF

I think kellymom has info on contraception / conceiving while BF

Try Toni Weschler's book. Very informative here is a link to her website: Here

Thanks everyone. The book looks interesting. There's no real point in doing an ovulation test I don't think - may as well stick to having plenty of sex, trying to wean dd off her nightime feeds and hoping for the best.

Arrrrrghhhhhhh, I'm just too impatient!

dont think number 2 will happen as number1. it may take couple months. dd hapened to us, so when we started for no2. we thought its gonna happen the same. it took over 6m.
so be prepared.
