Hi,
I am on the pill and 2 days into my period (started period Dec 9th) Dec 11th i had unprotected sex with DH. I carried on taking my pill back to back so haven't had a period yet. Period should have been around 6th/7th January.

Would I still be protect from the pill 2 days into my period, i've had a couple days of bad cramps but not sure if its because I should be on my period but carried on taking pill as was going away for a weekend.

Hope this makes sense and hope someone can help.

Thanks

The pill covers you throughout your 'period'. You are safe from that perspective.

If you have any other reason to suspect it may have failed, take a test.

You don't have true periods while on the pill - it's withdrawal bleeding. As the pp said, you are covered all the time while you're on the pill, if you take it properly. This is why you're not told to use other contraception during the withdrawal bleeding.

As you haven't had unprotected sex (unless of course there's more to this and you missed a pill) then it is very unlikely that you are pregnant.

But do a test if you're unsure. First Response ones are the most sensitive.

You're totally covered on the pill, don't worry. It stops you ovulating.

Also sends your cycles a bit screwy so cramping etc is not unusual.

worried30something · 15/01/2016 14:56

Hi Thanks for that, i thought I was covered but the cramping made me start over thinking, cramping was 2 days and just like period cramps.
