Whilst I also get mildly irritated by the many posts like that, I think people just want some reassurance or they're excited and want to talk about it. There's been some harsh threads and responses recently.

There appears to be a militant group of mothers to be on the pregnancy group that are up in arms about it.

Some people just dont have the support outside in the real world, so this is the next logical step to vent concern or excitement.. They shouldn't be harassed over it!

'Am I pregnant' on MN really seems to mean 'I think I might be pregnant and I'm concerned/scared/alone/excited. Please could I request a sympathetic ear and a virtual handhold whilst I work out what this means, and what my feelings are?' The answer to that should always be 'yes, settle in and pour your thoughts out, no one will be any the wiser until you've POAS'd, but we can at least support you whilst you wait.'

Not everyone can POAS immediately, either through not having AS to PO, or through it just being too early to get a result, so why shouldn't they POAK for a couple of hours/days until they can get a definitive answer?

I was wondering the other day if a 'pregnancy test' topic would be useful. Where people could post their 'am I pregnant?' 'Is this a positive' threads.

I'm on one of the ttc threads and we do it, but only within "our" thread as it were. Someone who is new to the site wouldn't necessarily know that conception was the place to put it and instead post in pregnancy, before I was ttc I know I'd have probably assumed pregnancy was the place to go.

'My left nipple itches, I am slightly bloated, I'm not due af for a week but am I pregnant?'

Aibu to offer some advice to the op? - the word you are looking for is pregnant.

The excited ones aren't the prob it's the ones who haven't taken a test or have an ear ache and haven't taken a test. Just take a test! It's not rocket science

But are those people a problem? Really? If you don't want to read their thread or reply to it then you really don't have to. There are plenty of other threads around here.

That's what I don't get about this recent uprising against the 'am I pregnant' threads - no one has to read them, they're usually quite obvious from their titles, so it's not like they're sneaking onto your computer or phone or tablet or whatever (does MN work on smart watches?!?), they're just there, amidst all the other repetitive threads about parking or disabled toilets or child-free weddings. We all know how they're going to go, and we all get to make that choice of opening them, or just scrolling away.

I had a freak out the other day thinking I was pregnant. I reached out in a TTC thread I used to be part of.

It was kind of a 'do you think i'm pregnant post' but more like "shit, i'm still grieving my miscarriage and can't talk to my DH about it because he's still cut up about it, we agreed we wouldn't TTC for a while and I need some hand holding from people who understand and don't want to talk to anyone IRL about it'

Short hand - I think I'm pregnant.

PS - I wasn't. AF arrived.

Not a bother I just wonder whether all am I pregnant posts are as simple as they seem. I get why they are annoying though as surely a person could just so a test I wouldn't get offended if someone questioned me though

i think sometimes, people know they are, especially if the lines are clear as day, but obviously dont want to/cant tell anyone yet...but news like this is there...toooo exciting to keep to yourself.....bubbling to come out, so they post an am i pregnant, just to be able to tell someone....even a bunch of internet strangers, and even at the risk of someone being arsey with them.

You're right Fatty it's a big secret for some. I didn't manage to keep my pregnancy secret from anyone!! When a person is pregnant it's the biggest deal - women aren't pregnant in their lives many time. I don't understand the ridicule

I don't read them but can understand why they do it. You can't be that mad in real life so mn is a useful outlet.
