PCOS and OPK's?

I'm a bit sick of not knowing when I'm ovulating so have been wondering about trying out OPK's. I've been reading up and there seems to be lots of conflicting info about what can and can't be used by people with PCOS.

Does/did anyone with PCOS use ovulation kits and if so which ones and do they work?

I had previously been diagnosed with PCOS. Because my cycles were long and irregular, (40, 50, sometimes 60 days!) my expensive Clear Blue Fertility monitor was totally worthless (wasted so much money on those sticks and the computer itself!) and I eventually used the cheap green 'One Step Ovulation Test' strips, and got pregnant the very first time. Highly recommend. Good luck!

thanks prunecat. I think if I get OPK's it will just be the cheap dippy stick type, not the fertility monitor things. Also I saw one for £400?! bonkers.

I have PCOS and have got pregnant twice using OPKs. They don't work for all women with PCOS, granted, but if you're buying the cheapo ones in a job lot, it's not much of a waste if they don't work for you. The sticks also confirmed the months when I didn't ovulate too, which was fascinating!

I used the clear blue ovulation tests and I got a positive almost ever second stick! My doctor confirmed I hadn't actually been ovulating at all, so I wouldn't waste the money in that specific brand again.

Thanks Chandeliers and Julie. I've decided to go with the cheapy dippy sticks, got a job lot from amazon for quite cheap to give them a go. I've booked a Dr's appointment now as well to try and get blood tests etc done again as well. Not convinced I'm ovulating at all!

Good luck. FYI I managed to conceive when I hadn't had any periods for over a year and hadn't been ovulating! So keep positive! We're now TTC no2 - hoping for an easier ride this time x
